Oh well, I like 30 year old computers and handhelds, I can understand someone likes a 30 year old obsolete music style

The only thing I liked about rap was the (kind of stupid) rap battles. Here is a funny one:

@KillerBug : Clapton Live in the '80's was one of the best concerts I have seen in my life. Only Genesis could beat him

I never got to see him until the 1990's...a bunch of x-hippie businessmen that sat down for the whole show and didn't even have lighters...Clapton's performance was good, but I suspect it suffered from the audience.

@Annelies , I've got one for you, I used to like Lil Wayne. Go DJ, Pop Bottles, and who can forget the hot Boyz and when Cash Money Millionaires (line up consisting of Birdman, Wayne, BG, and Juvenile) were a household name? Honestly I liked lollipop at first but just as a "it's ok" thing, hadn't really interested me as much as Pop Bottles did. Hell I even made a pop bottles ringtone for my phone. But for me, it was Lollipop that was the beginning of the end, I got tired of that song after a while and lil Wayne kept releasing single after single, I just wasn't feeling it, it really didn't help that since Lollipop the singles he kept dropping were drenched in autotune, like honestly he doesn't need it, and yes I am aware that he's starting to hold off but that's not my point. Also unrelated is the fact that overuse of autotune is whats killing everything and T Pain needs to stop letting Antares have the mic all the time ( Antares is the autotune plugin). Lil Wayne also has shown to be full of himself lately, that's something I can't stand. People stupidly tell me " he has money, he can say whatever he wants" but that's just stupid. For example, remember when he said " I'm better than 2pac"? I thought that was downright messed up, even if it's an opinion it's just messed up, and of course it's gonna draw heat, which it did, but no matter how much money he has doesn't mean be gets a pass at what he says. For example, if I had $3,000,000,000 what would happen if I said "Im better than (insert meaningless example here)?" just cuz I have money doesn't mean anything, I coulda robbed a bank last week or won the lottery and all of a sudden I'm the best person around? It don't work that way. I personally think he sold out is all, although I will admit for the sake of argument that some tracks of Carter 4 were just like the old days, I just think he shouldn't have completely sold out is all.

He is a rapper...it is either sell out, get killed, or get shot a whole bunch of times and then sell out (50 Cent).

At least snoop dog is funny.

Lowkey is better than Lil Wayne, just listen to the lyrics

I know many members on this forum aren't Hip-Hop fans but meh.

Lowkey - Soundtrack to the struggle .1 (full) - YouTube

Hip Hop Rap Lowkey "The Cradle Of Civilization" Iraq - YouTube

To me personally, this is Hip-Hop @Annelies . A lot of people get the impression that Hip-Hop is about Money, Cars and Hoes. But it's more than that, nowadays these modern commercialised rappers have turned Hip-Hop into Hip-Pop, and that's why I listen to old school or these rappers like Lowkey who are unique and different.

There is also rumour that Birdman bought a significant amount of those albums that Wayne sold don't know how much truth there is to this story.

Unfortunately @Annelies wont like Lowkey, Lowkey would be like a British equivalent to Immortal Technique, Annelies doesn't like music from the heart, he doesn't like music that tells the truth.

He prefers to hear Lil Wayne rap about how he sucked of Eminem for 50 Cent....

EDIT
@Fusion Graft
Did you buy Lowkeys new album ?
I bought it when it came out, awesome album

Wouldn't such a song be the truth?

Haha, Lowkey isn't that bad. Immortal Technique is a bit too aggressive for my liking.

Lil Wayne did have a few good songs, he has like a work ethic like 2Pac, hence all his mixtapes, but it's not quantity, it's quality.

Rich Boy Ft Lil Wayne, Nas & John Legend - Ghetto Rich Remix - YouTube

Like, if he actually put out stuff like this, I wouldn't dislike him as much.

Yup, Lowkey's album is worth your money! He is actually coming over to my city to do a performance but I don't have the time to go

My favourite songs on that album are, Soundtrack To The Struggle, Too Much, Cradle Of Civilisation, Long Live Palestine, and Obama Nation Part 2. I'm a 2Pac (Moderator over at TupacNation) mark so I had someone mix 2Pac over it when it first came out (I must admit Letter To The President would have sounded better on it, but the acapella wasn't studio quality) :P

Lowkey - Obama Nation Part 3 Ft. Tupac & Dead Prez "The Unofficial Remix" *DL Link* - YouTube

So your turn, what tracks did you like?

Also if you don't mind me asking what sort of Hip Hop are you into :D
