I'm surprised nobody asked this yet :
What is the model number, date code of the console, and which firmware did it ship with?

When the flasher is in ON position the console immediately turn of because the NOR is bad and it can't work. But when the flasher is turned off the console powered only the nor, the console don't boot and it should be on no meter the bad nor flash. Thats what I explain, thats the way it work with progskeet. The person didn't explain if the chip is off or on when he have this trouble with his console. Thats why I mansion it. |

Just a quick update...
It is possible to power up the E3 without having the PS3 power supply connected at all, with just the PS3 motherboard sitting on the bench. Figuring this out was alot easier than having to reassemble the PS3 every time I tried something new. Depending on how you read pin numbering on the header, its pin 22 (or if you prefer, the 11th pin on the bottom, counting from the ESATA opening). Apply regulated 3VDC to this pin and ground anywhere else on the chassis and the E3 flasher will power up (no PS3 power needed). In the beginning, I was able to backup successfully the existing 3.73 OFW from the Samsung chip (or so it said, and the log file showed no problems).. I can go through that same backup procedure now and it still works without any issue (again, as indicated by the LED's). When I take the 3.73 OFW backup file that I made originally before trying any other modificaitons and attempt to restore the PS3 to its original state, the E3 flasher FAILS to write back to the NOR. Log reads: start logging... program PS3 BIOS. program from TF. start programming. read 0:bkpps3.bin at 0x00000000 ... OK. erase PS3 BIOS at 0x00000000 ... OK. write PS3 BIOS at 0x00000000 ... failed. Program Nor failed. At this point, is there any piece of hardware that I could purchase that could write back to the NOR to at least get this back to the way it was before I started with this E3 POS? |

Just to bump the thread a little....I hope someone knows the answer to this... At any rate, same thing happened here, I only realized it when i've seen the log in the thread and checked mine.... Angers to know that it deletes just fine and THEN it checks if it can rewrite properly. No idea how or why, probably missed some vital step, like some minor detail within "prepared downgrader". I'm actually thinking of a new PS3.... It's expencive and OFW, but hell at least i know it will work if i pay for it. It's almost as if Sony made E3 flasher to brick all the piracy abusers.
