We could possibly do a "IQ test", and have the option to show "Only posts for people that have passed the PS3 scene test".

I personally think it would be a good idea so long as it tests the ability to navigate and find what has already been established in the forums, or even to just look at the PS3 Scene status bar above, as opposed to being a scene wiz. For instance, I like to believe that I would do good on basic tasks like how to install CFW, options available to downgrade, hardware maintenance, ect. I would not do so hot on programming and such. So to have a fair scoring system I think it should either be questions that can be answered via navigation (the questions we don't want to see posted over and over again) or a wide range of questions, which are elaborate in all aspects of the scene, and have a scoring system that includes various fields of expertise. For example, Senor_Striatum Basics: High, Linux: Low, Hardware: Moderate, ect. The benefits of the last suggestion would add merit to peoples help and would inspire people to achieve higher scores which ultimately leads to productivity.

I disagree on the basis that you would need a test in many languages. As you probably see, a lot of people that come here do not speak English natively. Having a test in English only makes the point null and void. So... Unless you want to get down and create a test in most of the widely used languages in the world, I would suggest against it. You could make it a math test, but what would that really prove for a site like this? A person can use math, whooo! but they are still flooding the help section with "WANT CFW!!!!!"
Having any kind of test though would deter the OMG!!! GIVE ME CFW NAO!!!!! type people. As long as it involves a bit of thinking. Generally these people are used to instant gratification and if there is a test, it would take too much time and they would move on. That however is bad for a website that wants/needs hits.

Again I say, an IQ test is not a good idea; even if someone does have a low IQ, they should not be excluded. If anything, they need their questions answered more. We just need a basic "test" that forces people to read and repeat the answers to the most common stupid questions we get here, as well as the more important forum rules.
Can you ask for pirated content? (no) Can you post pirated content? (no) Can you jailbreak firmware 3.56 or higher? (no) Can you downgrade a system from 3.56 or higher without hardware modifications? (no) Can you downgrade a system to a lower firmware than it came with from the factory? (no) Can you insult other members? (no) Can you post naked pictures of your ex-girlfriend? (no...but PM them to me) |

Cheesethief makes some valid points. I can't believe you would even consider this. Why don't you just remove the help section too? This is selfish behavior and should not be encouraged. Sure some people get bothered by stupid posts but it really is a minor annoyance. The ones who make a big fuss over this should stop admiring their own reflection and learn to deal with it. This thread reminds me of infantile youtube jokes it is just plain silly.

Don't worry
@Wolfie708
, you have proven something at the end of the day that I wonder how many actually noticed.
What section is this posted in everybody? (Especially those taking it as an insult) Is it in the "site suggestion" section? Oh it looks like its not........ how many people just failed??
