Hi,
I have and external HDD at the moment but I would like to get a larger one, and also would like one that would turn on and off with with the ps3 for convenience sake. Any suggestions would be appreciated. _Green_ |

thanks
I saw a thread on here mentioning the mybook drive, and am leaning towards it, but I'm not sure just yet. Ideally what I would like to try is connecting the drive as outlined in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJrLMZw0Jp4 I'm hoping I could do this and have the drive power on and off with the ps3. If this works I'm also wondering if I could still use the usb for my laptop. |

I dont know if this helps, but im getting a 500gb 3.5inch internal SATA (about $110), and external enclosure ($about 25, that supports SATA), a sata cable ($5) and putting it together, take my original hard drive out, sticking sata cable in like that video.

So your pretty much thinking the same thing I am. Let me know how it turns out for you. I'm really hoping I can get the drive to automaticly power on and off with the ps3. I have my ps3 in a vertical stand so hiding the cable shouldn't be too difficult, also I figure having the drive cover off can only help to increase the airflow from my intercooler.

if you want one that turns on and off with your ps3... get one that doesnt require external power and is powered by the usb port. I have an 80GB external hard drive which is just an 80GB 2.5" drive inside a small enclosure. One usb cable into the pc and thats it.
