I think it's a good and bad idea even though I never use PSN anyways so I am only looking at it from the game devs side.

It's good as it limits the unpaid sharing of full games, and more quality full games seem to be getting released via PSN now than in the past.

It's bad as DLC (map packs etc) should not be limited in the same way as if I buy a game I should be able to have ALL the content for it included in the price I paid for the game.

It all boils down to licensing really, and whichever way we look at it, the license we purchase when we buy a game is for One copy of that game (one copy being played at any given time). Regarding Gregs point of more than one PS3 in a house then it should be unlimited to the same IP address in my opinion as the license should be per location and not per console.

Well publishers would love to have the law changed so that all software can only be installed on one machine.

I remember buying my first windows licence, when I found out that it could only be installed on one PC I was, "wtf?! Why do I have to buy another copy, I just bought one!"

And we are already seeing it, games already being sold with online activation keys, which can only be used once. Sure you can still sell the game on, but if that person wants to play online now they have to phone up and buy a new key!

And how many kids chip in to buy games because they cant afford it alone, one week you have it, next week they have it, and back again. Publishers would love to stop you from lending your games to your mates as your friend gets to play it for free, they dont want you to! If they could make games like the mission impossible mission reports and destroy themselves after being used, they would. And if you need to reinstall it on your system again, tough luck new laws say that you bought a licence for one installation, buy a new copy for further installations.

Just like music cds, you arent buying the song, you are buying the right to listen to that song from that cd, hence why is some countries it is illegal to even backup your own cds even if it is for personal use!
hence why itunes downloads only work on itunes and apple devices, you bought the licence to listen to them only on those devices, try and play them on another device and they wouldnt play.

Now wasnt the point of the 5 downloads so that you could share the games with your friends and play with them online, yet this now seems to be the complete opposite of that statement, cos either we only have 2 ps3s, or only 1 friend.

Also I hear Home is getting its revamp today, will check that out on my ofw PS3 later, just remember sony before I "agreed" to your TOS, I had my fingers crossed but before I could press the button myself, my cat walked over my controller so it'c actually my cat who agreed to your TOS, and also that letter I send that read "by opening this letter you have agreed that I am no longer bound by your TOS" well I guess it got lost in the post, but anyway if you did get it you cannot complain, read the smallprint of the other side of the letter.
I know it's funny that you had to agreed to something without knowing and that you probably would not have agreed to it if you were able to read the terms before agreeing, but hey, if it's legal for corporations to do it it should be legal for individuals as well

No it ws never to share with friends, it was so that you could share with people in the same house, or say you had a PS3 in your living room, bedroom and toilet.

But now your going to have to poo without playing

This is a money thing, nothing else :/

Unfortunately for Sony a move like this could potential lead to increased in pirated PSN content. Why would you buy an item off the store again that you have already bought once... I'm guessing most people will go for the piracy option if it is available to them.

If there isn't a limit in how many times I can activate and deactivate a system I'm not hugely bothered by this. I don't mind deactivating a system whilst I use the content elsewhere if I can reactivate it again later.
Effectivly my DLC could follow me around to whatever PS3 I happen to be playing on wether it's a family member's or friend's. When I get home I deactivate that system and recalim my second slot again ready for use next time.

Something tells me Sony won't like this though and deactivation will be permenant

exactly, no more lan parties basically ... your friends don't need to bother
with bringing his/her PS3 to your house any longer.

The good side of this is kids will play more outside now. They can share a ball and a stick and a glove to play whatever sport they prefer, and sony can't interfere/limit/diminish that!

@Sony - play with you tinny little world all you want!
