Devils advocate, how many people really have more than 2 PS3s on OFW? The lending to your friends (you know, Friends share irl items eg a baseball glove) argument doesn't work either, try to remember that when you share a baseball glove, you don't get to make a copy of it and give it to your friends.
People paying 1/2 each will still work, just mean that everyone will have to share the game a bit more restrictively than before, i.e. 2 have it one night, 2 have it the next, just want to remind you all that this happens to be the same way I used to share my Mega drive games with my friends in the past. It's not that big a deal, and in fact is still a better deal than the past and as I understand it a better deal than 360 users get? |

as long as i can deactivate consoles from pc then i dont care.
its not going to be hard to login > deactivate > activate another console if im at a friends house and if i have another faulty console im not stuck with begging them to deactivate (which they refuse to do) gamesharers will not get away with stealing accounts as easily either

but i agree 1 is not enough, 2 is imo, that way if you have 2 consoles at home you can both play at the same time 1 has always been enough for 360 though

In the times of cartridges and not-so-tough-licenses I could trade games, knew some others, sell the games I didn't like at the time, lend games among family and friends, have hours of entertainment.
If Sony gave us 5 copies (they are indeed copies, that you can send to your friends) for, how many years since PS3 & PSN launch date? 6 years?, then why the hell are they taking that away now?. If they have lots of games on PSN now, then that's theirs issue, not ours. People like to have material things (games, dvds, bds, boxes, printed manuals, etc.), not that ****ty virtual thing stored in an encrypted device (the PS3 HDD). Good luck Sony & Kazou Hirai, you just destroyed a very powerful and limitless brand. Ken Kutaragi is going to perform a hara-kiri, if he hasn't done so. P.S.: Remember, this all started when they took away the OtherOS feature. Last edited by VideoX; 11-04-2011 at 11:21 AM. |

I am all for critisizing Sony -- or any other corporation for that matter -- for doing something unethical, or plain money grubbing. But most replies seem to be written by opportunists that are way too happy to beat down on Sony for about anything, without really having understood what's going on.
Or maybe I am just wrong, and don't see where the problem is. Because as it looks to me, you can still have two PS3s with the games on them, and, should you want to play it at a different location, all you have to do is deactivate one of your PS3s online, and you are good to go. I read someone complained in the name of people with three plus PS3s in the house. Now, honestly, who has three, or more, PS3s in the house, that belong to them? And even then, the answer is so very, very apparent, and easy: "Play the game on one of your other PS3s. Or deactivate one of them online." While the latter might be a slight hassle, the first isn't. Sony is just protecting themselves, their developers, and some stupid users from loss. This is actually quite understandable, and a very common practice in the gaming world. Piracy is bad, but where's the difference in letting 5 people practically own the game, that haven't bought it? Morally, there's little to none. |

They aren't legally, or morally, obligated to give you more than one. They aren't taking anything away, as the games that you bought prior to the change, still have the same limitation as before. You haven't lost anything.
