Format 1TB external to FAT32
Hi, I want to format my external 1TB drive to FAT32 as reccomended by most ps3 hackers. So I realise windows can only format it upto 32GB so Ive found an app called GUIFORMAT but even that seems to have a limit of 65536. Any ideas on how to do it so that it uses the full capacity?

I use Aomei Partition Assistant 3.0 Home Addition. Absolutely no limit, wide range of formats and you can format without having to backup your data. Although if you plan to format a sector that has data you will have to back up the data. Hope this helps.

Turns out that one that I had did atually format the full thing, its a gui version of fat32format. It just confused me that it said "allocation unit size" and the highest it went was 65536 but that must mean something else and not that its the maximum it can format to. Thanks for the help, sorry I was a dumbo, anyway I reccomend that software, really quick and easy.
I have backed up that data that was on there to my new USB powered drive that I was gonna use for my ps3 but people said that your better off using a mains powered drive as the usb ones draw power from ps3 and lag. So I just tried to copy over an extracted game to the new GAMEZ folder on my FAT32 formatted external drive but it says that an RPF file is to large (6.84GB) and do I want to skip or cancel. So what should I do? Last edited by bigpun4eva; 10-29-2011 at 01:23 PM. |

I believe windows has a built in tool called DiskPart which can be used to format 1tb to Fat32. I personally havent tried it but I use Diskpart to do other things.

Personally I use the internal for the couple of games I have with single files over the FAT32 4GB single file size limit. Last edited by Wolfie708; 10-29-2011 at 04:23 PM. |

I use "EASEUS Partition Master 8.0.1 Home Edition" it's amazing and only takes about 15secs to do a whole 2TB for me.
