OK mr. alphaomega, I've registered on this forum just to tell you how retarded you are.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO INSTALL CLEAN DEBUG PUP ON RETAIL CONSOLE WITHOUT ANY HARDWARE. It simply won't let you start the update. You either need to modify PUP to install(thus this will only work on 3.55 and lower, as no one owned checks in new updater) or modify your console through hardware. Also you can't get out of service mode if you're on 3.56 or above OFW. But good luck doing that.

so moogie is just a troll but we know that. the fact is this can be done with progskeet on retail consoles as i have done for friends and myself countless times.. so the original poster is right in many points. why about nobody does it? only lazy people around who prefer to irc and write to forums all day. duck and out

Ok, the first thing I said, was to try to install debug fw, then install OFW on top of it. that will just give you CEX OFW, no debug fw, trying to install debug fw will give you a corrupt data error.

Second one, was to go into service mode and install the debug fw, that will work, since service mode will flash ANY pup you give it, you will even see the debug vsh menu, but as soon as you try to leave service mode, you will brick. I have done this

in order to actually do cex-dex, you would need to use that osuites pack (meh) or decrypt EID0 and EID5, and edit the target id of the IDPS, to reflect the target id of a debug console, then re-encrypt and then flash it back to convert the console. the method's I said to this person in PM were false, and will lead to having a 3.7x CEX OFW PS3 or brick the console. they will not work.

Common sense = win.

This is an actual ''How to brick your PS3 for dummies'' tutorial.
Even if the Install/app menus would appear, how would you install unsigned stuff on it?
If so we would just install modified debug firmwares on our PS3, no need for CFWs or the enormously hard work Rebug does to mentain debug functions on retail mode.
