Does any1 know if we are able to data transfer from the current fw 3.72 over to a cwf 3.55 ps3 without hurting our cfw? I was just wondering wanted to try something with bf3 but did not want to hurt anything with my jailbroke ps3.. Thanks in advance for anyone that knows and is a trusted individual...

yes you can all you got to do is spoof the cfw to 3.72 then do the data transfer as normal BUT anythink data/ games etc on your cfw ps3 will get wiped as it formates it before doing the transver

If it does work for you there are still a few "problems" to be aware of.

The destination PS3 must have been logged into PSN with the accounts you want to transfer at least once.
Otherwise everything will transfer, themes, game files, even encrypted game saves,
But the Act.dat will not be present and games requiring activation wont work.

The ACT.DAT for a PSN account is created on the PS3 after logging into PSN once.
If the registry is corrupted or wiped (flash 2) for any reason the chain of trust is broken and the ACT.DAT is rejected/deleted from the system.

The destination PS3 must have the exact same profiles setup before the processes begins or the transfer will fail.
Just make them match name for name if you have more than one. User 1 is the default.
Before the transfer begins it says its going to format the drive, dont believe it.
Its NOT going to completely wipe the drive...
...The PS3 its needs the destination profiles and folders created first in order to transfer files to them.
Most everything else will be deleted just like carldenning states.
Technically the User 1 profile is overwritten with the data backup restore data, not deleted.

A data transfer requires that the originating PS3 be deactivated before the transfer begins.
It can be reactivated after the transfer but remember you must be logged into PSN to activate a console. (creating the ACT.DAT)

I have clear instructions on how to make a data transfer work the first time...
...its not exactly clear in the PS3 dialog and not as straight forward as it sounds.

You might want to try using a -data backup- of the Source PS3 and then a Restore to the destination PS3 first.
Especially if you have a 3.55 PS3 that has nothing on it you care about on it.
For fun try downloading some Install packages and Updates in the "background" on the source PS3 first.
Leave them bubbled and uninstalled.

What interesting is the new ReActPSN and its modified vsh.self

I think you'll have to get direct access to the drive somehow to make a copy.
My understanding is that a hard drive swap or format is needed after a downgrade using progskeet.
But I am not 100% sure.
If that's the case then keeping the original drive from 3.72 intact is a good idea.
It could be invaluable if and or when its possible to swap it back or copy from it for use on 3.55CFW

Hello Im new to this site trying it out came from next gen Can you tell me after i do data trans how i get 3.55 back to 3.55 i spoofed it and after i transfer from 3.72 to 3.55 it says 3.72 on my 3.55 but it is still jailbroke and everything how do i ease my mind and get it to say 3.55 again

install the spoofer app then boot the app up and click on deactivate then click on uninstall and bang it says your 3.55 ,
