itskamel's Patching Rebug 3.55.2 for reActPSN v2.0

Setting up Rebug 3.55.2 for reActPSN 2.0

In this tutorial I will show you how to patch your Rebug firmware 3.55.2 to use reActPSN 2.0

Things you will need.

Click here to see full text

1. Rebug 3.55.2 with the latest 0.4 update (if you do not have this refer to this tut first)
http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=26781

2. reActPSN v2.0
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QZ0E92G8

3. VSH files to patch Rebug
http://www.multiupload.com/48PRQ8XQ66

4. openps3ftp
http://www.multiupload.com/NJCAUP4WI9

5. dev_blind
http://www.multiupload.com/N25EK0W37Y

6. a usb stick formated to fat32

7. The ability to follow this tut

UPDATE: 11-30-11

Install the latest update pkg 0.6 for REBUG 3.55.2 and you can now run debug mode and have reactpsn at the same time. no more RSOD. :D

you can get it here

http://rebug.me

Warning not following this tutorial correctly could lead to RSOD or Brick. I am not responsible, you have been warned. Also going back to debug mode after this tutorial
will result in RSOD. You will no longer be able to access the debug settings. (a price you will pay for having psn content reactivated)

UPDATE: A pkg has been released that will patch your firmware automatically. This will work for

3.41 hermes
3.41 OFW (JB)
REBUG 3.41.3 update 0.2
3.55 kmeaw
REBUG 3.55.2 update 0.4

Caution: I have not tested this pkg myself. But a user by the name of @haseebh2O has and told me that it works. I do however encourage you to read thru the tutorial so that you will get a general idea of how it works. Also i encourage feedback in the thread. Also I would still think that after you install the pkg and run it that you could still get RSOD if you 1. run a spoof, 2. enable debug mode in Rebug selector.

Here is the link to the auto patcher.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y674JBNN

Now lets get started.

Click here to see full text

1. first off go to the Rebug selector in you game catagory of the xmb. This icon is the CEX/DEX icon. Make sure you are in Normal Mode (this is critical)

2. Extract the vsh.self archive. and go to the folder named "rebug3.55.2up4". Put this folder on your desktop.

3. Open dev_blind on your ps3. It will ask if you want to Mount it. Say yes.

4. now open up your ftp on the ps3 and browse to dev_blind/vsh/module/ and locate the following files
vsh.self.swp
vsh.self.cexsp
vsh.self.swp

back them up to a safe place.

4. Now in the "rebug3.55.2up4" folder overwrite them 3 files. (if the files do not match, do not replace them.) At this point if your files did not match then I suggest you stop the tutorial. I do not want you to mess up your ps3. If you decide to keep going its up to you.

5. Next close your ftp program and go back to dev_blind application. It will now ask if you want to Unmount dev flash. Say yes. (this step is also critical)

6. Reboot the ps3

Half way there. :D

Click here to see full text

7. Now copy the reActPSN.pkg to your usb stick.

8. Create a folder on the root of your usb stick called "exdata"

9. Install the reActPSN.pkg via normal method

10. Now run reActPSN and hold R1(or circle) doing this will create a folder on your usb stick called "reActPSN" and in that folder will be 2 folders called
"BK0001" and "pubPSN". Any content that you had prior to this will now be backed up in those folders. These files in those folders are the ones that are needed
to activate psn, dlc, or psone classic games.

11. Create a new user on your ps3 named "aa" without the quotes.

12. Run the program again. this time do not press any buttons. now you will notice that user "aa" is now named something like "reActPSN v2.0 xrif xedat"
when this is done your ps3 will restart automatically. If not restart manually.

Every time you want to reactivate something then copy over your ".rap and edat" files to the exdata folder on your usb stick.
rename that same user to "aa" again and run the reActPSN homebrew app.

I will not tell you where you can get the .rap files and edat files. That part is up to you.

Also remember do not go back to debug mode or you will result in RSOD. And you will have to flash your firmware again from recovery menu.

Also I would like to give credit to @haseebh2O because of him I would not know some of the things in this tutorial.

If for some reason after you reboot you end up in recovery mode just press the ps button and it will take you back to the xmb.

I would never do this just for my PSN games. Risking RSOD for what? Crash Bandicoot? Sonic 4? LMAO!!!

Nice tut, just sayin.

Good job on the tut as usual Kamel, I don't think RSoD is really much of an issue if you just REMOVE the rebug selector after you patch the new vsh.self.

Meh just reflash firmware from recovery, it's just RSOD just PSN games... it's almost everything (AFAIK) from PSN can be reactivated with this. also @jordosaxman makes a valid point, no selector= no worries

the tutorial is proven working. i have done it my self. its when you dont follow it correctly and you will get rsod. now its no different then playing burned games before launch and risking a ban. :P

its cfw everything is risky.

correct. but the only thing i dont like about it is the fact that now you cant have a spoof or switch back to debug mode and change options. kinda defeats the purpose of having rebug.

Is there any way to do this and not loose the features of the Debug Side of Rebug?

I'am new on Rebug so don't flame me.
If I'am in Rebug mode and installed reActPSN can I go to Normal mode or will this cause a RSOD also? Thanx.
