Thermal Past and Heat Sink ?????

So I cleaned my phat PS3 which is getting old and replaced the paste with Artic Silver 5. I cleaned all the old paste from both cpu, gpu, and heat sinks. I am worried cause this was my first time to do so on a ps3. I seems to get hooter than it used to, but I have not had any ill affects as of yet. I read this http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=28754 and it put me at ease cause of some of the people who's opinion I respect. Any further comments would be helpful thanks. I am just being noid???

More noticeable heat means that less is being trapped inside the chips...that is generally a good thing, the only potential downside being that there is less airflow from the fan to cool the southbridge and memory...but unless you have game stuttering, that isn't a big deal.

The units that I sell require no soldering; they are plug-n-play and the hidden control version doesn't even require drilling; it mounts into holes that the system comes with. If you can open your system, you can install one.

UK Distributor: http://consoletek.biz/en/23-ps3-e-z-cool

One thing to keep in mind is that the thermal compound needs to cure. So you can expect some higher temps initially and then the anticipated decrease. As killerbug mentioned, feeling the heat is a good thing on account of the heat being transferred. Personally I would pay mind as to how the fan is behaving to guage how effectively the heat is leaving the chips. If its hot and the fan is immediately kicking in, and this does not change after a couple days of game play, I would consider changing it again. After it cures I would install the fan too. I am curious did you try the rice blob in the center or thin even coat?
