It always makes me smile at peoples 'get around clauses' to justify what is and what is not piracy, and Pleeeeeeease, before you tell me I am acting Holier than thou, I am not. I do not pirate games now, but I have in the past so I am most certainly not whiter than white, I just do not try to justify piracy, because which ever way we choose to judge it, it is an illegal act
Couldn't agree more... When I was 10 years younger I also download those releases without buying the original. When I became older u realize only what ur doing and face the consequences of that.

You can go many ways with this discussion and of you follow the DMCA or any other standard almost everything classifies you as a pirate. If you would go really into detail, ur not even allowed to watch a movie you legally purchased with a large group (lets say a birthday).

And if you followed their rules i'm sure renting is not even legal (you're not the owner, you just pay a fee to lend it from someone). According to DMCA or EUCD the only way to be legal is like: Buy the game, and play by yourself and make sure no one else is watching...

I think we all have a game or piece of software that we didn't pay for and use, something like Windows, Office 2Kx or even using a piece of software after the 30 day trial period...

It's up to someone itself to decide what to do with it, and feels comfortable with it. I know i'm spending to much money on games..

I do "pirate" TV series like House because it takes a while before they are on TV here in the Netherlands. Don't know if that is real piracy?

@Senaxx : Funny, a (dutch?) supermod with only a few posts and still on level1... What's your scene status to become a supermod so fast?

I have seen his name floating around for a long time now. I think he mite have been a mod on a different site and switched over.
One thing i do know is that he knows what he is talking about and is a great asset to any team.

Maybe if he checks back on this thread, he can give us a better introduction.

On topic
I pay for digital cable but download my favorite tv shows to avoid the commercials. Do yall think this should be considered piracy ?

Since when is the amount of posts relative to your position

This is not the right topic to discuss this but in short:
I'm dutch yeah, so you've guessed that right. I've been around for some time now... always lurked on many forums. About 1,5 years ago I've started ThePlaystationClub.com and 6 months ago I started PS3SceneFiles.com. Some might even remember Psgrade.org where I had a download portal with every hex file for about every dongle out there..

I've been talking a while with GregoryRasputin and Pockets69 and GregoryRasputin said whenever I was tired of working on TPC.com I could join Ps3Hax, and yesterday GregoryRasputin recommended me.

ThePlaystationclub is going to close, PS3Scenefiles is going to stay. Officially i'm with PS3Hax to post news, and the mod thing is an extra. But now i'm around more my posts and levels will rise

Ah ok, I understand

Number of posts doesn't say anything, but for someone with only 14 posts to become a supermod is a nice achievement so I wondered what you did before PS3Hax

Welcome to PS3Hax than, hope to see some nice and fresh news from you

As far as what society consider law, I don't try and justify piracy. I do, though, get my hands on most games before I buy them through friends or the net (And yes, when I say i buy the game if I like it I actually mean it). If I don't like the game, I delete it and don't buy it.Done. If a game company is not ok with that then it is clear that all they want is for you to pay for it only because once you see that its a junk game it will be too late and you've given them your money...in which case I personally think they can go jump. Maybe I used to be that type of game consumer once but you just cant anymore. Games are TOO expensive to buy crap ones and only realise it once its in your ps3.(A good example of this would be Wolfenstein. I LOVED the previous ones but thank the pope I downloaded it, played for 20min, deleted and never looked back else I would have wasted R600 on a junk game that was developed to sell the name and nothing else).

As long as companies like Invinity Ward feel that they are good at what they do they shouldnt waste their time worrying about "Pirates" like me because once I download MW3 and it is good, I'm going to buy it. Its the people that download and play the game start to finnish and don't give a thought to the developers that they should worry about.

Between those people...and people that do what I do, there is a very thin line but we ARE different. Personally I cant even appreciate a pirated game anywhere near how much I appreciate the original media

So ya bottom line I say theres nothing wrong with downloading a game, give yourself an intro and buy it if its good or delete it if its junk

An introduction in the "new member introduction" or an announcement in the "site news" section would have given me the info easily also.... but it isn't there...

I have better things to do than looking up every PS3Hax member on google....

I pirate games I would never purchase. I did buy Uncharted 3, Batman Arkham City, etc. I support the devs that make the games that I feel obligated to support. I do pirate tv shows, movies, and music. I am not a saint but I am human. If I was rich then I would not have to pirate anything. I will not let money keep me from my games!!!!!!!!!

With this i totally agree. While i do pirate movies, tv shows and the like I always supports the developers where it is possible. I don't have all the money in the world and if I did, I would buy every song, movie and tv show but unfortunately i don't.

I see myself as a drop in a very average pond of people who pirate not for the sake of free stuff.
