Great app will have to try it out! Would love to see HDD support added as well but one step at a time right? Great job to the developer!

This app, of @CrashSerious's is the first proper homebrew application that has been in that horrendous competition.

I know we have had games, but they aren't applications per say and a part from TheOtherDev, CrashSerious is the only person to add a piece of homebrew.

CFW and Showtime plugins are NOT PS3 homebrew.

Also, stating that this app is the first true piece of homebrew, is not a useless comment.
Well that sounds a lot better than your initial response. Why not say that in the first place? Anyway have a good one, thanks for the news btw.

Peace

Just gave it a whirl. Resident Evil 1,2,3 , Dino Crisis 1,2 , Silent Hill, Abes Odysee\Exodus and Metal Gear Solid all work like a charm. Kudos dude

Long time lurker on these forums but I only just signed up the other day. I love these forums, btw!

Anyway, thanks for this But my Final Fantasy VIII still won't load, not through the ps3, not through multiman and not through this) and probably never will. For some reason it loads VII and IX, the platinum versions, but not my non-platinum VIII. I really don't want to download a copy since I have the retail version, but I fear I might have to someday, unless I want to play it on the ps2. And I really don't want to do that...

What doesn’t work:
Selecting or loading PS1 VMC’s
Hold the phone, you can't load gamesaves?
Selecting vmcs isn't a problem because you can do that before you start a game but you can't load saves? Is this true? Please correct me if I'm reading this wrong.

Thanks @GregoryRasputin and everyone else. We did it hopefully to raise the bar.

I was honestly a little worried about how it would go here with us releasing there first to enter the contest. We intend to re-invest the winning into another project, one we could have certainly funded our selves-- but this sends a message to raise the bar (IMHO). We recieved offers for the project, but I personally didn't like the last two "donation" drives I saw and we wanted to distance ourselves from that activity. This way makes us beholden to no one for a timeline, and takes no money out of our pocket to fund it.

But it requires we get the votes over there, Ehh we'll see if a new MFWBuilder variant or another Java script beats us out. I started the thread so I can't vote. So, at the risk of offending somone and driving traffic over there, "Rock the Vote" at psx-scene--- would ya? ;-)

For everyone else, VMC's are Virtual Memory Cards. aka, game saves. More "patching" is required to get them to work afaik.

I don't have a copy of VIII, but if it won't load in the emu from the PS3 it may be one of the ones purposely blocked out by sony... yes, they purposefully blocked some from what I can see. May I ask you what the SLXX-YYYY number is on the CD case?

when this feature was announced in multiman, ps3hax member captaincps-x figured out a way to improve compatibility by using a ps1 title called breaker pro loader. To quote his original post

"OK, guys check this out...

- I burned Breaker Pro (PS1 Disc Loader + Cheat Disc) (this is very old xD)
- Loaded with latest multiMAN from XMMB (Kmeaw FW)
- Selected main option in Breaker Pro Loader
- Ejected Disc as instructed by Breaker Pro
- Inserted Final Fantasy VIII Backup CD-R (This one is always detected as Data Disc on XBM and multiMAN)
- Pressed a button to continue with loading
- Success! Final Fantasy VIII was loaded using multiMAN + Breaker Pro"

Nice job @CrashSerious

I wondered indeed why it was first released on P$X scene, but I can understand it
