The lead artist at Konami, Yoji Shinkawa, said that bringing MGS1 to HD would make it look terrible not better. The graphics are so outdated that if they had to do it, every square polygon would be visible and would not look that great (All HD is is higher resolution quality visuals which basically makes the picture look sharper so you would see every squared polygon in crisp detail and it wouldnt look good at all). He also said the only reason the game looks "ok" is because with old tvs, being standard definition, they acted like anti-aliasing devices. Which makes sense because the tvs would blur the pixels and blend them in to each other and it would look ok

I think there's rights issues regarding Twin Snakes, not sure but think I remember reading something about it ages ago when there was talk of re-releasing it before.

Correct. Apparantly konami wasnt as involved as with previous titles. Silicon Knights developed MGS The Twin Snakes and Konami simply overlooked their progress and approved.Perhaps if Konami made the remake themselves they would have thought of including it in the HD Collection

I believe the cut scenes and audio/dialogue were all done in-house at Konami as well. Everything else was Silicon Knights under contract to Nintendo as far as I understand it.

Twin Snakes isn't included because of licensing, that's right, just as "Snake vs Monkey" is missing from MGS3 in this collection. Honestly, I'm glad Twin Snakes isn't included because it would just ruin my own image of Solid Snake. Why? Well, matrix moves, jumping off missiles... that's not very MGS-ish! And that's also the only reason I never bothered to play Twin Snakes.

I would have liked it included for two reasons, firstly, I've never played it, and due to its relative rarity probably never will and secondly for completeness. It's not a big deal though, happy with what we'll be getting and certainly not complaining at all.

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes 007 - Ninja Vs. Snake - YouTube

Check out the first minute, this is what I'm talking about (couldn't find the missile jump and that other stuff but this is good enough to proove my point). It's like Chuck Norris somehow replaced Solid Snake!

I never thought about that! I wonder what they intend to do to make it easier on the eyes? I remember the transition between blurry face snake and racially defined snake... He didn't look like I first imagined lol. I do intend to buy this title when it's out because konami pub deserves it for their beautiful work. Thanks for the info and nice thread.
