all ps3 will save 10% of internal memory for system use only. you can not get this memory back.
i dont think you need to wipe int hdd as with a 60gb ps3 you should only have about 53gb.

Ya dude ive got a 120GB PS3 and it only shows 110GB. Just the way it is

If you still going to format you'll have to install OFW 3.55 (I had to when I replaced my hdd)

But before you do use the backup utility under system settings to make sure you back up your save games. Sadly trophies will be lost im afraid as that is the only thing that the backup utility doesnt backup.Sucks

There is a way to save your trophies with CFW

use ftp to make a backup of the /dev_hdd0/home/your user id/ folder. After format and re-install CFW put this folder back. Turn off the PS3. Start again and go into recovery and use Rebuild Database. Voila, your trophies are back

Hectic...I say take the drive out once you've done your backups and then format it to fat32 on pc and see what size the computer reads it as before putting it back in the ps3 and installing the firmware again. At least that way you'll know what the official size is

im backing up ps3 data now using backup utility. Never done this before lol

i also ftp savedata folders to laptop as crysis 2 wldnt let me copy game save

should i wipe multiman b4 format and other homebrew stuff from game in xmb before i do format?

do i have to go to official 3.55 from rebug before i format the drive, because i read other places its a myth?

also after the format is complete what is the next steps to get rebug back on, and savedata back, ididnt bother with trophies and that stuff doesnt interest me, just starting a game from scratch does
