by chance can you find the find the file off a supposed e3 card usb device and use it. or is it a special type of device that youre supposed to need to get to service mode. has anybody manage to get to service mode without the usb dongle that wasnt mention in the buying procedure of a e3 nor flasher to downgrade a slim ps3 or can you use your own usb thumb drive with the files on it.

i recieved a message from the main e3 flasher website contact email address and their team says my console cannot be downgraded after including my ps3 bios and they said i cannot downgrade this console. this is falsely advertising a product thats touch and go basis and you really do not know if itll work to begin with. ive asked if theyll include future support for my model, still awaiting response. cech 2501a this model is stated to be working on e3 flasher, so what gives.

@just_idle : So you mean update the e3 flasher with the first update, then run the second update (10-28, one?) then try to flash it?

@zeondx : Wait, CECH 2501a is already KNOWN to work with the e3 flasher? Like proof people have gotten that model to work?! And just as well, I'm using my PSP or my android phone as my dongle. Really, you can use anything you'd like, just as it's known to be able to do the challenge call.

@samich r u sure. i sent an email to e3 flasher website and they told me my console couldnt be downgraded and sent them a copy of my 3.73 backup. ive managed a backup of my samson nor and updated the mainboard from their website. everytime i run the downgrade.bin i get stuck with 11001000 which means unsupported ps3, then i read the error dialog that said unsupported metdlr. my only question is there something to insure that u made a perfect backup, so u kno for a fact that the downgrade will work. i may decide to take it part again.. its just frustrating when the e3 team tells my ps3 isnt able to be downgraded when others have downgraded this console and cech 2501a is listed as compatible. how do u even get to service mode with another usb device. can u just drag and drop files on any old regular usb thumb drive, then do the eject and power button combo to get to service mode then install files and turn off console. then u turn back on the console and u use the other file to exit service. i will do everything over again to be sure i properly did everything again. maybe im goofing up somewhere... hmm maybe christechtv should do a video of the software demonstration to help people out. christechtv gives a demonstration of installation on a phat model for those interested. oh yea they never mention it when u get the device that some ps3 samson nor maybe structured differently. they dont give an example of installing the clip on backwards samson nor. they do tell u how to install it though its extremely difficult to clear the hdd bay because the clip may get damaged due to the way the clip is installed.

Well, I mean.. You can't use ANYTHING you like as a downgrade dongle, I'm just sayin' there are more ways than just spending that extra 10-40$ on a downgrade dongle.

And I've gotten that metldr error too! I just reseated my clip and it seemingly went away for some reason. Something is very fishy with how this whole thing is setup. I'm very skeptical about their whole "Your console is special. Can't be downgrade." email they sent me as well. And as far as christechtv goes, I've done a better job at getting information to people than he has on his page. I've been trying to help out quite a few people. But no one seems to know how to help me.

1. I have the e3 flasher limited,I would like to know i can use the flasher to downgrade both my consoles.I have the 320gb and the 250gb.

2.i have installed it on the 320gb and read the nand but when i try to write the downgrade it gives me an error wrong ps3 version. software is on 3.73

3.Could sum one please tell me what the button on the sata card of the e3 flasher that sits next to the nand is for ?

4.Lastly i have a bricked slim 250 gb can the e3 flasher repair this?

@IMRAAN : It's been mentioned that you can only use the E3 flasher on one console. So no, you can't use it on more than one.
2. reinstall the clip. It needs to be tighter.
3. It's to reset the e3 flasher to call another command instead of having to turn off your ps3 everytime.
4. No, seeing as you probably don't have the original BIOS to flash and recover with, since you mentioned that you only installed it on the 320gb model.

@tarasiboy01 : I'm not going to give a full detailed installation. I am only helping those who get errors. I suggest looking on youtube as there are plenty of resources there now. Just as well, they do give you pdf files that tell you how to do it. It's broken english, but if you can read another language, I'm sure they have something.

I have installed the E3 FLASHER on my slim PS3 and i have checked that my ps3 is compatible but i keep trying to backup my bios and i keep getting the 10001100 error and i have made sure i put the clip on properly i have pressed it on as hard as i could and heard the snap when i connected it but i still get the error.

Your Clip is either:

- not completly connected to the chip (use ducktape)
- not working

Check the connection @ the SATA port aswell, the error code doesn't mean it's the clip always.

I had to reopen my PS3 for about 5 times, repositioned the clip 5 times, and than, finally it worked -.-"
