Fail, it was a retoric question.

I think a better article title would be "The Hacking Community A Victim Of A Sophisticated Vendetta By Sony"

Sony dropped the ball on security, was told by hackers "Hey Sony, there is a hole here, plug it cause I want to help you" and they refused to listen, cause they were given this info by hackers.
Sony has no-one but themselves to blame for April, and every action they have made since has only demonstrated Sony's total arrogance to its own failings, and passed the blame onto "those evil hacker people," and even used it as justification to exact unjust ToS's, further control its consumer base, and to erode the legal protections of those who use electronic devices from the concept of ownership and privacy.

idiots, they deserve it, these money pigs.. everything they have done even before any hacking took place was to push customers away, make their life with the console horrible, develop things not even remotely close to peoples cries.. it doesnt end..

personally i aint going to buy any sony product in a very very long time, IF ever.. F** them! not worth my money..

1 less faithful customer

they were afraid they would lose control of their business i understand that, but it wouldn't destroy the console, the console could do more than sony would ever allow it to.

so its sony that destroyed the console and the dream as they removed a function that could make it more versatile than just gaming.
i sold my console to buy a pc so i wouldn't have to put up with this.

From what I remember, Sony actually make a loss per console sold. Quite a big one. They aim to make the money back and more through licensing and sales, and work on the assumption that every console will have items purchased for it. If they're selling 2 consoles but only 1 has games being bought for it then yes, they are actually loosing money.

But don't confuse me as defending Sony. I think they've done some very stupid things, which include but are not limited to removing advertised features from consoles, putting root kits on their CDs and suing members of the PS3 scene. Personally I don't hate Sony, they make some great products, but their management/attitude needs some serious adjustments if they're going to keep their consumer base.

As for the hack, the guy's just pointing out the obvious. If you start attacking real hackers, from a real community, then there are going to be consequences. I mean really, it's like punching a boxer's little brother, you just don't do it; if you do you're going to get hit.

Personally my CFW isn't for piracy, though I admit I've copied a friend's game just because I could and liked the game, it's in anticipation for a good homebrew market and so that I can install Linux if I should ever so choose. I wish Sony could realise just how simple it is really: OtherOS + Homebrew would stop practically every hacker from targeting their console (except the money inspired ones, i.e. dongles).
