You know why they are doing this?
Because they have finally came face to face with the fact that PSVita's launch is going to be a historical epic fail, a pure trainwreck, and they know why.
Finally it's obvious, plus remember for all of you that follow my posts that pretty like alot of stuff I predicted turned out to happen, I feel very confident that PSVita is going to have a dissasterous launch, I can already see comming Sony's comments and theories on the bad sales of PSVita and a price cut and that it was an unpredicted loss for Sony.

It will be an epic fail because it has a Linux kernel, and everyone knows what sony does with Linux kernels within 2 years of a platform launch. Usually it is just an attack on enthusiasts...but when you have nothing except a linux kernel, removing it is a serious problem for even the casual gamer.

Seriously tho...the people who usually push a console the first year and get enough into the wild to ensure good third party titles have no interest in dealing with Sony anymore...the vita is in trouble.

It's funny how people ignore the pirate like the Sam in this article. Yes he pirates lots of games, be he also buys half of them!
You never hear the part of the surveys that shows that pirates actually spend at least 3 times more a year than an average customer. That part is always conveniently left out.
