Hi guys,

I own a PS3 with OFW 3.41, I still hesitate to go online or play newer games which require an upgrade.

I think of installing a Kmeaw CFW but I hear that there are problems with newer games and such..

I'm wondering now is it really worth it? To hack my PS3 and tiptoe around every game that I want to play? Are there any promising new hacks that might make life easier for a CFW user?

Help me to decide, give few brief and to the point reasons why/why not to upgrade to the latest OFW. Upgrade or not upgrade? (a little Shakespear there)

all the games that are playable on 3.41 are playable on 3.55

well if your on ofw 3.41 whats the point of not being on CFW? you cant play new games on 3.41 just like CFW 3.55, CFW 3.55 can play all games before or on 3.55 and some new games have had fixes.. True blue is supposedly coming soon, its a dongle that is suppose to allow all new games to run on CFW.. its currently being reverse engineered to get the same effect with out using/buying a dongle. But really theres so many advantages to using CFW, all games on HDD no disc needed. HOMEBREW emulators etc

its upto you if you have played all games till date and wanna play multiplayer upgrade it but once you do it you cant go back unless someone comes with new CFW
i am also kinda thinking the same thing as very few new games are available for 3.55 and some really good games like COD MW3,Batman Arkham City dont have fix yet so wait for 2-3 months if nothing changes i am also gonna do the upgrade with you :D

It only allows for playing the games that are patched by them last I remembered. True blue is a solution but I wouldn't class is with the other dongles which are much more flexible in the method/exploit it does. True blue last I checked uses debug elements to play games above 3.55.

cfw is good but playing online is good too, my advise keep that on 3.55 cfw of your choice and go buy another second hand ps3 for ofw online gameing like MW3. on cfw you can back up/download loads of games just not new ones untill a fix comes (eboot) tho you get them free if thats what you fancey. youll have cool homebrew that makes things better like linux and apps that help mod things like games (GTA4). just use your other ps3 for online gameing with your disc games like MW3, why not have the best of both worlds thats my plans for this crimbo hopefully lol

id rather have 2 ps3, if yours breaks you have none if 1 of mines breaks ill still have another lol. also dont fancey opening the ps3 if not needed, alot of people have got bricks and yolds using the e3 flasher.

Also considering updating.Very sad. The question you've got to ask is...how long are you willing to wait to play new games...while OFW users are enjoying free online gaming bliss with every ps3 title supported? What if theres never a new exploit? (Ya ya...i know a few of you really believe there will be but just what if there isnt?) One day the PS4 is going to come out (its already being developed by sony http://www.ps4playstation4.com/ps4-r...untdown-begins ) and we are all going to realise that we've wasted the ps3 days on waiting for a CFW that never came. Had my kmeaw 3.55 installed as soon as kmeaw cfw came around and ive been waiting since then. Its been awhile and there has been MANY build ups of suspense with regards to new CFW and in the end we have all just been let down.

I already told myself that Im giving the scene another 2 to 3 months incase something big happens and then Im updating.Quite depressing cos I hacked my psp phat to shreds which I still have today and is as awesome as ever and was hoping to do the same thing with my PS3. But Ive learnt the hard way that games come first as its a gaming machine and if its not playing the games I want Im not happy

So ya like jp_cfc09 said, if you really want the best of both worlds and you have a bit of cash you're better off getting a second PS3 dude.Then just sell it and buy games with the cash IF dual boot ever does come out
