So my original PS3 (a launch FAT 60gig model the ones with heating problem) got the YLOD. I then bought a new one and I thought that was the end of my original PS3's life, but when I read that the PS3 had been hacked months later I looked into fixing my old PS3. With some looking around the net I managed to re flow my PS3 and fix the YLOD, and install CFW and a Multiman.
Now as a result of my console overheating once then fan kicks into high gear after an hr or so of playing and will alternate on and off as I play. My question is this: I would like to mod my case for cooling. What would be the best way to approach this? Extra internal fans? I would like to some how customize a computer case to house a PS3. Would this be possible? I'm little over whelmed on were to start on this project any direction/resources would be greatly appreciated ![]() And I do realize that it would probably be easier to grab a new console and install an E3 Flasher but I'd rather customize my old PS3 (that and I need a winter project ) Thanks in advance!

There are all kinds of cooling mods you can do, but if you don't mind getting rid of the stock appearance, the first place I would start would be the coolers. Either go with watercooling or some nice big PC processor heatsinks designed for overclockers. Also, don't forget about all the other bits that are cooled by the fan and by the rubber pads...cooling your CELL and RSX won't help you much if your memory is overheating.

I recommend you to go with what KillerBug says before you do something like that he's the cooling pro in the forums xD

From the looks of it, that doesn't actually do any cooling...it is just a box that does not have the same problems that you normally get when you put the system in a small enclosure. If your system is just sitting on a table or something, then that cooling box won't help you.

I would pm killerbug since he's more knowledgeable about it. My knowledge is limited when it comes to hardware modifying
