Genius he may be, but attention whore he most definitely is.

If he's really done it, I applaud him. It's a great feat to be done.

However, I don't think he will share anything; no matter how much respect you feign now. His ego seems to have suffered from not receiving eternal gratitude from a collective of ever changing individuals that don't care about where things come from, as long as they're available. The minority will go as far as to say say "thank you," and even fewer will support you in any way. All the sucking up you will do now is irrelevant. It will only make him -- in his unwarranted self importance -- feel like he finally gets what he deserves. Meaning, he's getting what he wants, without actually having to do, or risk, anything for it.

The only way to get something out of him, would be if everyone just stopped talking about him completely. That would force him to actually produce something to get at least a little bit of attention, which he so desperately seems to need. But that, sadly, wont happen. We have news sites like this, that immediately announce anything he says, for one. The poll alone shows, that whoever made the news-article clings to some sort of hope that the frenchman might be swayed by some grattitude. Then we have the people that assume he will risk being sued by sony, or change his egotistical, attention grubbing ways, just because xXSephiroth420KillaXx said "thx u r the gr8st cfw now pl0x," on some forum, or comment part of some article. Finally, there's guys like us, that rightfully -- but stupidly -- give him negative attention, by calling him out on his childish and unrealistic attitude.

Let's face it, if he's actually done it, only another leak will actually get us something from him. If he was to release his method now, there'd be little to nothing he could hold over the scene to garner more attention with.

Been lurking on these forums for a bit, but this post prompted me to respond.

Gregory, you have proven that you are a respectable contributor not only to this forum, but to this community. However there is a very strong point that I have to disagree with.

Now that said, your definition of "give a crap" is a bit too broad. Do I give a crap that Graf is in jail? Of course I do. I consider it a serious miscarriage of justice. They went after the little guy instead of the big dog. Do I care that Gitbrew/Glevand risk the wrath of Sony's lawyers? Absolutely. They've put the scene ahead of themselves despite what might/will happen to them.

Which is what worries me most about the scene. At one point in time the scene was about open information. Over the past what, year or so?, it's become more about "Hey! Look what I can do!" as opposed to "Here's what we've found, do what you will.". These people, Gaf, Gitbrew, Geohot, etc. have put their reputations, indeed their futures, on the line for us, yet there are people like Math that want to cash in on that, if nothing more than to inflate their own ego.

Math has proven that he is a part of the "Look what I can do!" crowd. It's been a loooong time since he has released anything of worth. Yet every week or two it seems that he's providing screenshots that "say" he has done great and dramatic things.

If Math wants respect, he has to earn it. Just like every other human being on the planet. I don't respect a man because of his intellect, his character, his sense of humor, his charitable contributions, etc, though in some cases it does flavor the initial reaction. He earns respect by proving that what he is, be it his intellect, his character, his sense of humor, etc. are honest, and without guile.

Math has done nothing but mislead what could loosely be referred to as the current incarnation of the "scene", for no other reason to inflate his already over-inflated ego.

Until he produces something of substance, of actual worth to the community, even if it is to the 5% who are in it for the homebrew and not the "warez", then he has no reason to demand the respect he has demanded over the past couple of months.

Releasing a screenshot of a script running (and I have to say it is a script considering he did a CLS before running the command), only reinforces that.

If he wants respect, he has to earn it. He hasn't done that in a long, long time. Right now, it's a matter of him crying wolf.

Personally I don't consider his image proof either, but I don't think a high compression JPG is proof of anything...if it was photoshopped then is would have been done in BMP quality; no distortion. Heck, even making an app that does nothing except return the text would be extremely easy.

Not completely true, the percentage of ignorant leeches used to be less. We leeches used to be a smaller group who found ourselves interested in the subject and started reading about it. We didn't have the skills but that was ok since it was the thrill of the things getting unlocked that was more important for us. And piracy... That's true, it's because things got easier that more idiots and teenagers started jumping the wagon. They were only interested in getting every game they wanted for free. Even if it was possible but too hard they complained.

Personally I love hacking every damn device I have. I don't use them all for piracy, I recently hacked my old PS2 even-though I'm not planning on downloading any PS2 game. I just LOVE the freedom, seeing a device do things the creator didn't intend for it.

Is your motivation different? Fine by me... but don't call people names just because you don't get what you want. They don't owe you nothing and they have the right to enjoy the attention of others.
