It seems the heatspreader warps aswell... I'm currently lapping one and it's warped as ****. If you remove heatspreaders, it would be a good idea to lap those as well as the heatsink. Will post my results with pics in a few days when I get new thermal paste.

didn't i write that in the guide? i was pretty sure to have written that... Well, i'll check... Btw could you tell me exactly on what models you tryed to remove heatspreaders and what the results were? i'd like to add a section to the guide where the succesfull or failures of various models are listed to get which ones you can do it on

COK-001 (CECHA) = went perfect, only a few revealed tracks on the PCB
COK-001 (CECHA) = Perfect SEM-001 (CECHG) = RSX perfect, Cell had MUCH harder glue than the other two, broke it. I'm thinking it's safe on 90nm if you're not an idiot, but hard on the 65-45nm without heating the chip with more than just a hair dryer. Also I believe you wrote about lapping the heatsink, but the warping seems to happen on the heatspreader aswell... I'll post pics later.
