@dszuecs
i think the wrong point is, you shouldn't have flashed the 3.73 flash backup from 3.55 downgrade. you should have made a 3.55 downgrade backup and flashed this instead.

i think this e3 uses some piggybacking technique to downgrade and the e3 brickfix is maybe the real flash write.

I ask because maybe you upgraded and then downgraded to 3.55 and maybe i can help you.
Anyway your is more like a semi-brick than a completely brick, post e3 logfile inside the tf card plz
the console is full bricked, 100%.
but listen, i just read about Ylod on slim consoles - sounds exactly the same what i experiance.

What i did:

- first of all update to 3.73
- BIOS Backup
- downgrade.bin flashed successfully
- something with dongle failed (i guess)
- brick

I tried reflashing the BIOS backup from 3.73, doesn't work. only thing i can think of is, that my motherboard thinks it's on 3.55 - but if it was, i could get i at least in servicemode with dongle, wich also doesn't work.
It's like there's not enough voltage, means the FAN starts normal as soon as i turn on the console, but slows down its speed after 2 sec to a minimum.
USB ports not working, HDD LED not blinking.

if you have a backup.. you should get it working.. you know i have the same problem you have.. exactly the same.. only bad thing is.. i dont have a backup..

again the same question.. if the hack is true about the metldr exploit.. is this an option for me.. the error in the e3 flasher log is.. metldr not supported..

I was hoping someone could help me as well..I am in the same boat and am trying to restore the PS3 using the E-3 flasher...I have the backup on the microSD card (pkpps3.bin) and soldered the flasher as per their instructions...the log reads this:
start logging...
program PS3 BIOS.
program from TF.
start programming.
read 0:bkpps3.bin at 0x00000000 ... OK.
erase PS3 BIOS at 0x00000000 ... OK.
write PS3 BIOS at 0x00000000 ... failed.
Program Nor failed.

Any ideas?

i had this the first time right after soldering. the problem was the ugly ******g clip, it simply didn't fit the nor chip after installing like 20 times..

so what helped was massive pressure and ultra massive ducktape -.-"
You could try to dump another bios backup, just to see if your clip is installed well. If you get the 10001100, simply reinstall the clip.

wow, you'd think they would make sure the clip would fit nicely after waiting so long to release the da^n thing. I tried what you said but am still getting an error the code im getting is 10001111 (failed to write ps3 bios)

could it still be the clip? i tried what you said and opened it back up to make sure it fit snugly....the second i take the e3 out of the flash fun mode i get the YLOD...does this at least mean i soldered it right? i formatted the microSD card to make sure nothing was on it then put my backup bin on it...

This is exactly what I Did but on 3.72... Do you guys think hard soldering the Teensy ++ 2.0 and flashing the 3.72 bin will help at all? One of the Devs thinks so but he isn't sure about it. We are going to try it tonight.

i soledered my E3 flasher and successfully reflashed the 3.73 bios backup. it worked - i took a look inside the logfile. but the problem isn't solved. i will try the way with heatgun on cpu / gpu - since i read about Ylod on slims.
