I have a question. I've edited file software_update_plugin.rco to remove the line "Update via Internet" .After copied edited file back to PS3. The line "Update via Internet" has gone but if i press X button the PS3 auto searching update file from internet. Why ? So i want it completed remove from System Update setting and the PS3 automatic choose the line "Update via Storage Media" (highlight on that text).

I did as you said but the option: "Update via Internet" still there it hadn't gone. Why ?
I want it remove completely. I dont think edit category_sysconf.xml and category_sysconf_shop.xml can resolve the problem but maybe in edit software_update_plugin.sprx and another file i dont know. I've decrypt software_update_plugin.sprx and edit them but still no luck.

this is crazy , ive remove every think from the catagory in the xml and every think is still there , setting section is nothink like the other catagorys , ive nearly done the rest of the xmb cat and was gunna leave the settings one for last but im going to try and sort it and figuer it out , now as it buggin me why nothink removes from settings ,

i dont think its possible to remove anythink from settings catagory , ive done every think i normal would . there must me a hidden backup file for it and uses that if the xml is broken or removed , im lost

Ok got my PS3 working again but I know its going to be temporary. What exactly are you trying to remove? the system update option under settings or removing the update from internet option from the system update menu?
