thanks alot that was a big help b/c i just found a 3.15 firmware ps3 and i hope they do make a patch for newer games b/c i really want to play skyrim and some of the newer games

oh i forgot what are the packages i will need if my ps3 is backwards compatible and i want to play ps1 and 2 games on it it is jailbroken

some newer games are playable and some are not.

ps1 games will play with @CrashSerious homebrew app called "one" and as far as the ps2 backups go. you would need a cobra dongle unless you want to play them from a disc.

as for the cobra dongle you will need a different firmware as it requires a special firmware for the dongle.

i just want to clarify few things
firstly is there any chance of bricking the system while installing this jailbreak.
also can original games can be played on cfw 3.55 eg battlefield 3?

actually the risk of brick is very minimal this is kmeaw but anything is possible. hell its possible to brick your ps3 if you install a official sony firmware. as for the game bf3 your in luck it is playable. but you will need a patch. look around on this forum for it. it was made by duplex.

no what i meant to say buddy is i hve original disk of bf3 can it be played normally without any fix?

this is an awesome guide. im currently on 3.41 ofw with a dongle i want to install 3.55 cfw now so that i can play newer games and just get patches and stuff. now im going to buy me a bigger internal hardrive( SATA 2.5 inch) so i was wondering if it would affect any of the of the files when i change my internal hardrive or should i just wait until i buy the new hardrive. Also a another thing is that i was on 3.41 then upgraded to 3.50 but then realised that my controller doesnt work wireless on firwares 3.50 upwards since its fake so then i downgraded back to 3.41ofw but my hombrew gives me an error. So will the cfw3.55 do the same with the controller and homebrew?

no it can not. sorry. you will have to use the fix on cfw.

if you swap hard drive you will have to flash your firmware again. as far as the controller i dont know. my brother uses a wireless logitec on ofw 3.72 and it works fine.
