I thought we went over this already? He would NEVER have went to jail for it. It was a civil matter not a criminal one. All he was facing was a law suit not a criminal trial. As a matter of fact, he never pirated anything so most likely he wouldn't have even been found guilty had he fought it out. So one of two things happened, 1) Sony's scare tactics worked or 2) He got what he wanted which was fame and cushy job at Facebook. Either way he didn't want to be known as a PS3 hacker so I think the latter is obvious. I for one am not mad at him about it. I don't use his cfw anyways. I use kmeaw's.

Thanks for the explanation the guys who think they know it all failed to do (+rep for you), I remember reading however that Sony were trying to get him in trouble for much more than just releasing the keys though.

I recall Sony attempting to push the fact they donated that $1 that according to them was his way of accepting money for his release...

The other was when GH then asked the big 3 (MS, Ninty and Sony) for a job offering saying he'd like to work for the other side.

Even though they are BS attempts from Sony to us, were they not real concerns in the courts?

Funny how those guys still believe GH gave them CFW. I guess they forgot (or never knew since they weren't here yet) that GH made a vid right after his hardware hack showing of CFW(unproven), but then disapeared for months till the PSjailbreak was released and reverse engineered. GH bragged and promised some more, did nothing and in the meanwhile KaKaRoToKS released the first CFW. Then GH came with his own CFW which was pretty useless and infiriour. Short after Mr Hotz dissapeared.

The only thing we owe to GH is the initial hardware hack that ticked off Sony,... but hmm... that hack didn't lead to CFW.

No one blames them for not being here at the start, no one blames them for only knowing what GH was bragging about on TV. But I do blame them for being ignorant and not reading about what really happened.

Newsflash guys: KaKaRoToKS and Mathieulh who you guys hate are the ones who gave you your CFW

oh yeah... I'm not saying GH isn't talented, but he hardly did anything for the scene
