hello from the newest noob! lol :)
hello everybody,
im a new member to the site and somewhat new at all this. i have been a member of wiihacks for almost a year and have had a bit of success in that regard. now, after 5 years of waiting i bought my brothers ps3 off of him and am dying to see what fun i can have with it and this site.  my biggest concern i have at this point is that i have been doing some research and seen no OFW over 3.55 will work for jailbreaking and my brothers ps3 (slim) is already at OFW 3.72  so if anybody can give me pointers on if its possible to downgrade OFW and if its safe  to attempt that without bricking that would be awesome!

Unfortunately, the only option you have is via a hardware downgrader such as Progskeet or E3Flasher. There currently is no software downgrader unless already on 3.55. Here's a great thread to answer more questions if you have them: http://www.ps3hax.net/2011/08/f-a-q-...g-ps3-hacking/
