I Don't think you need to solder anything. I only worked on hitachi drives but I know for the other drives you need the key extractor or something like that.
I think this video might help: Xbox 360 - A Complete Guide to Flashing the Liteon Drive - YouTube thats if I understand your situation.

No the only way is a probe that I know of. You can make a homemade probe apparently:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.p...ic=671025&st=0 video here: Making Your Own Lite-on Probe - YouTube Anything else and I am of no use to you as I have given you all I know..which isn't very much lol. But thats all I know, you need a probe of some sort to extract the key from the drive.

What drive do you have and what dash are you on? you most likely do not need a probe at all, just get jungleflasher and read the included tutorial.

So my question still stands because if he is on a dash that did not reflash the firmware on the drive then the model number of the drive will be very important to know what method he should take to flash the drive. |

when he updates the 360 to the new dash it will flash the drive back to stock

1st he has not stated what dash it is on so if he has an old dash depending on the drive version he might not need anything other then the VIA card he has. 2nd If he is on an older dash and dumped the firmware and got the key then flashed LT+ 2.0 to the drive chances are that the update will see that he has the newer firmware and not reflash the drive. 3rd The MRA method is not out dated since it is still effective. So why suggest that he buy or build something that is possibly gonna be used once when the OP has already stated that he can solder |
