Firstly, Welcome to the forums!
You do have an option for your scenario. It's called a hardware flasher. Progskeet (solderless) E3 Flasher (solderless) Teensy (not solderless) Search through the forums to get more info on them. Nothing yet as it stands will assisting you in downgrading software-wise unless already on 3.55 or lower.

No way that I know of to downgrade from 3.73 (latest OFW) to 3.55 WITHOUT a hardware flasher.

Best Flasher
Hi,
I want to downgrade and didn't realise E3 had a solderless option I was about to order a Progskeet and solder it, only because it is used in the tutorial I read. Ideally I would like a flasher I can remove and use on multiple units. Is there anyone with experience using either Progskeet OR E3 flashers that could chime in. I would go right ahead and buy the E3 unit but I am worried that instructions will be in broken english or that the hardware will be less supported. I trust Progskeet more(blindly) but I don't want to solder if I don't have to. The PS3 in question is NOR and the firmware is 3.60. Thanks for your time |

Personally, I've been looking into getting a Progskeet for the Dual-Nand and 360-Solderless clip because I have a CECHA console vs going out a getting a PS3 for OFW.
See here: http://progskeet.com/products.php I lean more towards a Progskeet also but can't say for sure if the solderless clip works on a NOR. E3 Flasher, as you already know, does. Here's a recent thread of someone who got pretty extensive with his/her setup: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php...hlight=Flasher

Thanks guys, the links will be handy.
I am not intimidated by soldering and I am not convinced the new jailbrake will be useful for someone above 3.55 for a while The above posted tutorial for the progskeet solder method is the only one I really trusted and the only one I am confident doing but solderless would be worth finding a better tut as long as the e3flasher isn't a peice of junk I doubt the clip would fit both NAND and NOR chips(Progskeet). I haven't looked into this but NOR uses only a single 16MB chip, NAND is 256 between 2 chips (I'm sure you know this if I do) I'll keep looking and if anyone else can add some thoughts, please do I am new to flashing and PS3 modding but am no stranger to soldering and coding. In other words, I don't need anyone to tell me this is too hard. Thanks! |
