Hello everyone,

my cousin just bought a new PSP 3004 model, the firmware on it is 6.37, i know everything about the PS3 but nothing about the PSP, so what should i look for to jailbreak it, is there a tutorial and which firmware (cfw) is the best for it ? thanks in advance


P.S. he has no memory card if it matters

Ok, he will buy a memory card in a few days, but i want everything ready for him until he buys it.


He want's it for game backups playback, maybe some homebrew and just if possible PSN, if it is hard to get PSN he can live without it too

another question is what should he be looking for when he buys the memory card, he wanted to buy 8 GB, i think it's enough, but is there any special type to look for ?

He/You can update to 6.39 and then download "6.39 PRO-B10.fix1" from http://code.google.com/p/procfw/downloads/list, copy folder called "PSP" to root of memory card, turn on PSP, run from game -> memory card -> "Update" and then press "X", and it's done.
If you turn off completly your PSP then, you must run after turning it on "Fast Recovery" to bring modded firmware. Don't know if on 6.39 PSN will work, because I don't use it

As it for the card, Sony MemoryStick 16GB with MagicGate would be perfect

Thank you my friend, just how to turn it on in "Fast Recovery" ? and how is it then going with game backups, do i just transfer them on the memory card or is there the need to be in a special folder, and how to run them after ?

I am a complete noob on PSP, sorry hehe but i don't think that it is harder then with the PS3

When you go into the game category and next to the memory card/stick, You will have 2 option's avaible (on official non modded fw), one is "Update" and the second one is "Fast Recovery".

"Update" is a one time only thing for injecting "hack", you do it at the first time you want to mod you psp.

When you turn your psp completly off (hold power button), and the turn it back on you will be again at ofw (this modded fw is not permanent) so to bring back hacked psp, then you use "Fast Recovery" by pressing "X" (reminder: it's on memory card/stick in game category).

At the root of MemoryStick create a folder named "ISO", and copy ISOs or CSOs into this folder, then on PSP go into game -> memorystick and you will see those games you've put into that folder, pick one and start by pressing "X".

And i think it needs original memory card not the fake one
and latest update for psp is 6.60 so i don't think if it will go on psn
once i hacked my bro's psp so i have some idea about it

But i am now afraid because of the memory card, can someone for sure tell me that it needs to be an Original Sony PSP memory card to work or it can be any ?

Go to a photo shop or something like that, or some big electronical store, they on 99,9% will have orginal Sony card.
