Sony Class Action Lawsuit (who is with me)
Here's the thing, I was trying to watch a movie from my hard drive on my PS3, and in the middle of the movie the PS3 muted the audio and gave me the error "Cinavia Messages: Message Code 3" Did some research and turns out that Sony sent an update trying to keep people from watching "downloaded" movies on there hard drive. Well it's not just that,
It also goes way back to when the ps3 came out and had linux on it, then they took that away, then just because someone found the keys to "their playstation and shared, what they were, Sony gets mad and sues them. Well I say that it's time to fight back, If we buy the system, then the system is ours, not sony's (no matter has much that say they still own it or that their terms says they can do whatever they want.) What crime does someone commit if they hack there own system??? IT'S THEIR'S. It's not sony's job to prevent pirating, it's the job of the software companies. It's not sony's job to charge someone for pirating, It's the FBI's job. What I propose is if everyone is up for the starting a cause, stating that we own our system, and that we have the right to customize it, and do anything we damn well choose to, then we start by a $10 donation pot for a lawyer. I think we can win this and force sony to release their keys or open the firmware to be able to make homebrew. Which goes to say though that, yes, they own the network and if they wanted to ban someone for homebrew, that their choice. I don't care. Besides, I could be a good thing for sony cuz people would buy one system for the network and one for custom. What do you think? |

I don't care enough. I'm the same I am today as I was before Sony did all those nasty things. Even if you won, it wouldn't force Sony to release their private keys. It wouldn't open up the console to homebrew either, well... maybe it would because the most this would do is bring back OtherOS, and that's already asking for too much.
I honestly don't have any idea what would happen if you won. Probably wouldn't change my life in anyway at all so no point in me agreeing to this.

1 $ony lawyer earns more money a month than we will donate all together... and $ony has a little army of lawyers.
And if we are all so donate-happy we would have donated much more to graf_chokolo his legal fight.... Look at the German government, they have all the time to raid graf his house if $ony wants it, but they have no time to raid terrorists their house unless the terrorists kill themselves and the last terrorist burns down the house. The German special service did know about those terrorists a long time but did nothing !! http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011...doner-killings Money rules this world and we don't have enough of it

Well I think I'm pissibly the most anti-Sony guy in this forum and I couldn't agree more with the fact as long as we buy something we own it and there is no "but" in the sentence.
But I do know also why some things happen. While the Linux dropped support is a crime, the Cinavia protection is an other story. Any new device that has a hardware DVD or Blu-Ray reader on it (excluding PC parts) is forced by an organization (I don't remember it's name) in order to pass some specifications and patterns and be available to the public to have some feautures and follow some protocols... Think of it like what is Redbook for CD-Audio. It must be mastered that way, it must have a headroom peak at -XXdB it must be under 99 tracks the lowest length per track must be 4 seconds with the 2 second gap etc. So in order for a device to make it on the market it must have some stuff/specifications; one of them recently is Cinavia. Well Cinavia is pretty dead either way, on PS3s it's kind of easy to get rid of it on CFW and even if you are not there are some solutions which will cause Cinavia to extinct in the near future. BTW if anyone wants, I'm a music producer and audio engineer and I was very interested to see what it does on audio as a watermark and I found a way how to defeat the DRM/reverse engineer it. I'm not sure if anybody else have found a way and posted it publically on the net, but I'm pretty sure if you post the solution on public you're gonna have equally much trouble as Geohot had with Sony...

(this method is one of the video methods I use modded for audio) 1) extract audio stream from container. 2) import stream into a "DUMMY" video with same or longer duration. 3) import into AVISYNTH. 4) Open AVS in VirtualDub. 5) Make sure that audio "direct stream copy" is selected. 6) Save as AVI. 7) Use Pazera Free Audio Extractor to extract to MP3(or what ever). LOL this method is probably a fail for audio but for video it bypasses Nero 10's digital patent activation.

![]() You need an audio editor to get rid of it.

Sounds revolutionary, but a month of investigation made me defeat it.
