After years of PS3 owners pledging they will never purchase another Sony product again after "the way sony treats customers" we have a new sony product and a lot of salavating faces ready to part with their hard earned cash and play catch up with sony all over again.
guess the bottom line is the big corporations know consumers are driven by just that "consumerism" hence their dont give a damn attitude.

PSVita is a bit of a crap name dont you think? Just does not inspire me to get one.
I also think the hand held market will suffer due to the power of modern smartphones.
I predict this flopping just like PSP (I bought 2 PSP and barely used either).

I'm getting kinda excited about the PSVita's launch... its going to be a powerful little machine! And I'm hopping that with all that power were going to (eventually) get some pretty awesome Hombrew games and Apps!

Question about the firmware xTractor, what does it actually do or extract from the firmware? Is it more of a development tool?

Hell I was on that bandwagon after the PS2 came out and refused to ever get a PS2, years later, I was GIVEN a PS2 and decided since I already had it, abuse it.

It wasn't until last year in December that I finally got a hold of a PS3 (CECHA-01 thank goodness) and I refused to pay any money for either system, they just "fell" into my lap, and I also decided to abuse the PS3. but sad thing was only abuse I got out of either of the two was emulators and I had perfect ones on my First Gen XBOX, so honestly the only other thing I use my PS3 for is to watch movies on my Standard Definition TV (lol so behind in times.)

Other than that, Hated $ony, always will hate $ony, and refuse to ever give them any of my money. Also, as many people as I know IRL, not one has a PS3 because I have always talked so much crap about the company. So if anything, they are suffering because of my word of mouth. They have always mistreated their customers and they always will and they will suffer more as time goes by as more people become aware of not just their "don't give a crap attitude", but the way they cut corners and reduce their products. Because I also have told people well before they stole "OtherOS" from us (and not many average users care about OOS being gone) that $ony sucks because the launch models had card readers and 4 USB ports and they slowly take away from the PS3 all because they are terrified that hackers might find a workaround their security with a card reader. (which they did)

So not everyone will give in, they will wait and get their products from a secondhand source, i.e. pawn shop like people really should if they wish to stick it to $ony. Game developers deserve their money for their hard work, a company that mixes a mesh of pre-exsisting technology and calls it their own and then gripes and punishes people for when they are finally able to use it not the way the company originally intended it for should not deserve any benefit, only the hard workers that create said games for said system.

many people will contradict what they say when this comes out even myself, but this should be easier to crack, im really keen on the emulators/homebrew, i wish to play n64 roms on a handheld.

So, how would this even work? i mean, if the Vita isnt released anywhere, how would they know how to code to extract anything at all?

Am sure the security in place loses nothing to the PS3's and i bet they have updated its npdrm-equivalent to 2.0 too.

Extracting to PC is no big deal imho because am sure sony will allow the fw to be downloaded to a pc and then upped to the Vita. So, what exactly this app extracts?

To me, this is a worthless app (not the news piece) exacerbated by the fact that no one can test it or use it ...at all.

One thing am liking already about the vita is that it runs C#. Am sure once its opened a lot more people will be able to develop apps for it, and more beautiful ones. Here iam hoping Sony implements Windows Messaging there. Hell, why not XNA? that would be crazy (and impossible too)
