Thats ok. Your file structure should be (in windows terminology)

(or whatever the drive is named) E:\GAMES\BLUS30762\PS3_GAME\USRDIR\EBOOT.BIN
Which in multiman (file manager) will look like
dev_usb001\GAMES\BLUS30762\PS3_GAME\USRDIR\EBOOT.BIN

using ftp, im in the process of transferring BLUS30762 from my pc to dev_hdd0/GAMES on the ps3. is this the correct place to put the game?

I have same problem here. Exactly the same, got everything work with internal , but not external . yes I'm using a fat32 one. The game just doesn't show up at the game list , nor be detectable.

Sometimes when i plug in the external hdd i hear the spin of the hdd begin and then stop then again begin and stop it seems the ps3 havent enough power on the usb port its just a theory but un my computer i dont have problems with the hdd

I don't think so. I think it's the compatibility of the hdd. I was using a 3TB WD but it didnt work. Gonna try a 600gb WD portable soon.

maybe you can try to limit the partition to 1 tb just to test when it works maybe you can make 3 partition with 1tb and edit the option for mutliman maybe this work its just an idea

Well, I tried that but it still didn't work.
