Also remember it isn't easy to setup OtherOS++ on a PS3. For some people it takes hours to understand the setup instructions and install it. Patience is very needed in the PS3 OtherOS++ case Asap is a no no....

I don't think dongle manufacturers like the idea of having OtherOS++ running in combination with their secured and moneymaking dongle

Linux doesn't boot with Cobra FW, period. The Cobra patches make it unable to run correctly. If you apply Linux patches to Cobra FW, not only the PS3 won't be able to boot petitboot, but also the PS3 will not function properly with the dongle inserted.

The lv1 hypervisor patches for Linux are obviously not used only to install petitboot, you need them to boot it aswell. And since it ****s up when trying to use them on cobra fw, you can't use linux on cobra fw.

Well if this helps...

the OtherOS lv1 patch does the following:
peek/poke support (unused lv1 calls 182 and 183)
Allow mapping of HTAB with write protection
Allow to set all bits of SPE register MFC_SR1 with
lv1_set_spe_privilege_state_area_1_register
Allow setting data access breakpoints in hypervisor state with lv1_set_dabr
Allow ENCDEC IOCTL command 0x85
Allow access to all SS services (Needed for ps3dm-utils)
Allow access to all services of Indi Info Manager
Allow extracting for all package types
Allow enabling product mode by using Update Manager Write EPROM
Allow deleting of all ENCDEC keys
Allow creating/modifying/deleting of repository nodes in any LPAR
Disable integrity check in System Manager
Allow access to all System Manager services of GameOS
Enable GuestOS mode 1 for GameOS
Skip ACL checks for all storage devices
OtherOS++ support
and also patched lv2 with the following:
Patch to add LV1 Peek&Poke system calls to LV2 3.55 (LV1 peek/poke patch
necessary)
Patch to add LV1 Call system call to LV2 3.55
also does these:
patch_profile.tcl - Increase boot memory size of GameOS (Needed for OtherOS++)
spoof_version.tcl - Simplified spoof up to 3.60
ps3mfw_base.tcl - Added support for SPP (needed for patch_profile.tcl)

Cobra makes these calls:
lv1_get_repository_node_value
lv1_allocate_device_dma_region
lv1_free_device_dma_region
lv1_map_device_dma_region
lv1_unmap_device_dma_region
lv1_storage_read
lv1_storage_check_async_status

To be honest I think a OtherOS++ implementation to CobraFW is possible but I might be wrong.

PS: not really sure about everything but I just did a quick compare and contrast.

i know that @bitsbubba made the cobra mfw for 3.55, maybe i should ask him for help.

is that something i could try and slap together with the latest mfw build, or is it a bit more complicated than that?
