PS3 Reball questions

So this time my PS3 got ylod third time. As I'm tired of reflowing I'm thinking of reballing. I can get this done for 80€ (that's $108 or £68). Now what do you think: is it worth to reball or should I just trash it and get slim for 250€ instead?
PS3 I have is good old phat 60GB with 3.55CFW.

Now question for those who had their PS3 reballed:
How long does reball last? Is it permanent solution?
What does need to be reballed cpu and gpu only? Or ram maybe too?

if you buy your ps3 here in belfast itll cost you £199.99 and thats about 235 euro, or if you buy it second hand it bout £100-£150 which is about 115-175 euro mate. if youve reflowed three times already id say your best bet is to just buy a new one and sell that one on.

Personally I would do a lead reball and put in a fan controller...but if you do decide to go for a slim, remember that even a dead 60GB is worth a few bucks on ebay.

Little bit belated, but here you go....

1. A reball is neigh on a perminant fix. It's not 100% guaranteed to last forever (even brand new machines don't last forever), but it should be just as reliable or even more relaible than a new machine if done properly with leaded solder.

2. 99% of the time only the GPU needs reballed, very occasionally the CPU as well. RAM has never been the cause from any I have seen.

Cheers

So that mean if I only reball gpu there is risk that next thing that will crack are joints on cpu? Cause I found one company that does reball for 40-60€ but the man says he will reball only gpu and the cpu is not needed. I would let him do it, but I am little scared PS3 will fail again in near future because of the cpu. If he do reball I want to be made like it should and that I won't see ylod caused by bad joints in at least next 5 years.
What do you think?

Cheers

99% of the solder failures are GPU ones.
For some reason CPU solder joints tend not to crack as much as the GPU ones, maybe because the design of the board prevents it from warping under the CPU area... Not sure though.
Anyway while you won't be as safe as if both processors were reballed, I think it's good enough. Especially for 40-60€. Even 60 is quite cheap for a reball.

40-60€ is cheap indeed always worth a try imo

...Or maybe it is because the GPU runs at 100% all the time with most games while the CPU rarely gets off idle.

For 60€, I would say reball. Heck, give me the name of the place once they complete the job...I'll ship overseas to get a price like that.
