Exact 1 to 1 copies of a game disc would have the same firmware requirements as the real game disc
Example- an exact duplicate of the new Modern Warfare 3 game, which requires ofw 3.7+ then the copy would also require the same ofw 3.7+

There are lots of PS3 games that are below 20 GB even more below 5 GB. As for HDDVD's that format is not relevant to the PS3 as PS3's do not even support the format. Also you don't necessarily need a bluray burner to play some PS3 games since like I said some games will fit or can be made to fit on a dual layer DVD-R disc that can be launched via deank's discBOOT program.

Correct, but being a copy it would be a fair bit less than £40 a pop, more like 5 for £10 or something, you could use them on PSN and would work 100% like an original. Win, win, win!

putting aside the cost of the actual machine and the working environment you would need, the cost of copying the original glass disc to the same exact specification would be extortionate as you would need to "obtain" the master to first clone it and then find somewhere to reproduce it for you no questions asked. multiply the cost for each and every game you wish to clone and you see the cost mounting up

Personally pressing the games yourself is a dumb idea...drop and forget it....its trash. Don't you think that if this was actually a good idea we would all originally do it back when the first Disc using consoles with DRM protection implemented were used???

Like japsander said you need a master...Ok you got the press now what???
Here is a CD manufacturing procedures:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_Disc_manufacturing
remind you that thats CD and not Bluray...which I would imagine it being a lot more complicated.

Yer I seen the cost of the machines, been searching this morning, 4 grand or something so bugger that lol

Well then if they need the master, then that brings back to the original question how are the chinese duplicating these new games and selling MW3 a new game for $40 ? PS3 region free aswell so will work anywhere?

LOL well if you didn't know PS3 games are region free already.
And I'm sure that if the Chinese are infact pressing these games then its not a personal things its a small business that is doing it and not a single person, that way the costs of equipment isn't so bad, and also somehow I'm guessing they got a master to use, possible leaked and/or stolen.
