no you dont need a tb. unless you want to play 3.56++ games . but. other than that . you need to be on 3.55 firmware if not, you gotta buy a progskeet or e3 flasher or clone ect. ( if you got a console built with 3.56 stalk your screwed lol

so i down grade software to 3.55? i got my ps3 1 mnth ago haha thnx bro seems like every body on this site is reel friendly too

no world at war is way lower than 3.55 its like 3.15 so it will work

So to verify what firmware are you on right now???
Settings>system settings>system information.
If you are under 3.55 you are in luck, if you are above 3.55 then you are kinda have to go the difficult route of downgrading with a flasher (not noob friendly, unless someone makes/made a noob tutorial.

NO flasher is a board used to connect directly to the console to extract and/or replace(flash) the software found on a chip that stores the firmware of the system. This requires that you know how to solder (unless you get a solder-less one, and are somewhat tech savy enough to disassemble and then reassemble your PS3.

ohh that seems easy i took apart my ipod and ps2 to put back together moddify so i just basically take apart my ps3 then put it back together lol
could i just buy a dongle tho sounds easierlol

LOL OK going back to step 1.

You NEED to be on firmware under 3.55, which you might not be now that we have astablished that you have bought it a month ago, pretty recent making it possibly a 3000 model PS3(which is not hackable at this point in time).

If you are on a firmware that is over 3.55 but its not a 3000 model you might be able to downgrade the system using a flasher. The flasher is connected to the PS3 after the system is disassembled. The system must have previously been on 3.55 or lower, the system cannot downgrade lower then the firmware it was originally retailed with (even with a flasher). There is a way to check I think what the earliest firmware you can go to is.

If your system is not a 3000 or over firmware 3.55 then yes you can use a normal flashdrive to mod your ps3 lol.
