KIPabc123's PSP tutorial

@hellsing9 doesn't know what he is talking about and is apparently too retarded to properly ban users.

I am deleting this tutorial and moving it to a site that doesn't have ****ing idiots for mods.

I think most people would have a hard time dealing with a firmware which is over 3 yrs old at this point, not to mention the need for a firmware v3.03 or less, as well as needing many more steps to reach the point of having the ability to play your backups and homebrew.

That said, I only have a PSP3001, and as such will not be providing support for the mentioned firmware. Sorry.

Edit: If anyone is curious about the 3.03 OE-C firmware, you can find a decent guide and FAQ about it at http://forums.qj.net/guides-psp-hack...guide-faq.html

6.20 Pro-B10f is also a highly viable LCFW to choose, as 6.20 has a very large amount of working plug-ins, and also it allows Pro-Permanent, which boots Pro from coldboot similar to a full CFW.
Pro-Permanent works on any PSP model running 6.20, even 3Ks and PSPgos. Its not a good as a full cIPL, as it does not allow most things a CFW would, but does have some extra recovery menu capabilities than a PSP without Pro-Permanent would have access to.

Edit: Up-to-date links:
All Official Pro-CFW releases can be found here
The official Pro installation tutorial is here
All Official (L)ME releases can be found here

o.O
Pressing the power button makes a PSP sleep, holding it for ~5 seconds makes it turn off fully. Using the vsh menu to turn it off is easier, not required.

Your instructions for Pro do not give the actual installation eboot name, which could be very confusing as there are (upto) 3 different Pro eboots in a single archive.
The eboot that installs Pro is called PROUPDATE

The link you provide for OFW 6.39 does not work on the PSPgo, as PSPgos use separate Update eboots. (and, it appears also to be a broken link.)
All PSP OFWs can be found here

I wanted to make that discussion actually.
I'm kinda outdated with newer PSP CFWs than 5.00M33-6 (kinda ancient I know but actually it's not that important to update to newer, there isnt anything groundbreaking or incompatible without a patch)

1. What are the advantages of leaving forever behind M33 to a newer CFW?
2. Obviously I have a 1000 (fat) model so I'd go with a completelly permanent CFW so which is the best? PRO or ME?
3. I get really frustrated when I hate to patch or not my games and how to so I'd need to know what kind of patches these CFWs need and what kind of compatibility have with Prometheus patches.
4. 6.20CFW vs 6.39CFW vs 6.60CFW. Which wins? Pros/Cons?

More updated features from both OFW and (L)CFW, newer and more up-to-date plug-ins, easier usage of newer games, PSN access, updating newer CFW is simpler as they are all full installers (so no needing to patch a dozen times.)

Pro-B10f (6.60 CIPL) or ME-1.6 (6.60) are for 1K and older 2K psps, and are full CFW. Either one is a good choice.

ProCFW and (L)ME have ISO/CSO functionality built in, and any updates to the drivers are included inside any Pro or (L)ME installers. No need for ISO Loader patching. The prometheus.prx and eboot.old method is also no longer used on newer CFW. Simply use a clean ISO/CSO (and if not on 6.60 place this into a txt file called version.txt in seplugins and enable it in the recovery menu) and they will run on Pro or (L)ME. Simple.

There is no best for all as there are some minor variations with each.

6.20 has only ProCFW to choose from. The benefits of 6.20 are that you can use Pro-Permanent, which allows for coldbooting of Pro on all PSPs (even on 3K's and GOs.) No other version can do this (as Sony patched it out.) 6.20 also as the largest amount of plug-ins available. No CIPL is available for this version.

6.35 has only ProCFW available. It is just like the 6.20 version, but no ProPermanent is possible, and no CIPL either. This was largely used by those who were unable to downgrade to 6.20 (or not willing to risk the 9g->4g converter causing errors,) prior to 6.39 and 6.60 LCFWs. It has become less common as 6.39 and 6.60 allow all the same as 6.35 with more.

6.39 has ProCFW and (L)ME are available, with LCFW and CIPL version of each possible. There is still many plug-ins, themes, etc, updated to work on 6.35 and 6.39, but as most PSP action occurs on 6.20 and 6.60, and both Pro and (L)ME are available on 6.39 and 6.60, I would recommend using 6.60 instead. No real loss.

6.60 has both Pro and (L)ME available to choose from. You also have CIPL versions of each available on 6.60 (Pro-CFW CIPL and ME.) Much of the current scene is focused around this version as it is the most recent and also as it is believed that is may be the last OFW for the PSP.

In any case, Pro-CFW continues to update its 6.20, 6.35, 6.39, and 6.60 flavours, as does (L)ME with its 6.39 and 6.60 flavours.
Each ProCFW version is effectively identical, just as are all (L)ME versions (though do make sure to use the correct one for the OFW/PSP you are running.)

As for the differences between ProCFW and (L)ME, they are largely cosmetic. Both have nearly the exact same functionality, with only minor variations.

@jc_gargma - Christ, you know a hell of a lot more about this than I do. XD

Maybe you should write an advanced tut for PSP modification? If you don't want to go through the effort, at least stick around in here as I'm sure others (as well as myself) will benefit from your posts.
