Well, Linux is a bit new and immature... it might get there one day, I have 5 installs of MacOS X, 5 of debian, 10 of ubuntu, but only 1 Amiga; 3 actually, there is also UAE in my PS2 and PS3.

I think you don´t need an environment for beginning.
Download Notepad++ and compiler like mingw, borland, or use microsofts compiler. If you make a mistake, the compiler shows you the line. |

sorry, but I have to disagree. with a IDE, a beginner solves programming issues more easily, e.g. syntax problems. I think that use pure text editor is recommended to intermediate and advances devs.

PS: when starting a project "windows form application" it is soo different lol, ill stick with CLI for now lol. Thanks again everyone for he help...will check thread for anymore suggestions. PS: Java is my next language.
