Hey guys.

Since we're on the subject of outer space, I thought I'd bring up something that I discussed with a group of my friends a few months back that's very improbable, but more likely than us visiting Gliese 581g.

Imagine this:

1. We fly all the way to Neptune.
2. We destroy the planet Neptune and extract its core.
3. We bring the core of Neptune all the way back to Earth.
4. We TRY to get the core of Neptune orbiting Earth. (This would be the most risky part because if we failed, bye-bye Earth.)
5. Neptune's core is 1.2x larger than Earth and is made up of mostly iron.
6. All the prices on Earth (like cars) drop SIGNIFICANTLY among other things.

Kinda random, I know.

LoL...it started as a discussion of a planet, and has turned into a debate about nuclear power and a discussion on time travel!

Destroying a planet would put the whole system at risk lol.
Also generating the thrust to tow that much matter and then position it would be near unimaginable but as for mining it? Sure, why not. Lets rape a dead planet instead of our own :-)

Why not just make Jupiter habitable??? lol. It will survive the sun becoming a red giant(gets as large as the earth's orbit).

We can't even keep the rain forest habitable, and you want to make another planet habitable?

The real solution is to round up all the world leaders, shove them on a rocket, and send it into the sun.

This will do us no good. It is actually easier to extract everything off of Mars (Mars is made of metal), and then bring it here. It is even better for us to take all of Jupiter's moons and put them into our orbit. Then we can start a major extraction process, and study the moons more efficiently.

Yes, lets kill ourselves in thousands of ways. First, even if we did manage to bring Jupiter here, then good luck putting it into a good orbit. Second, that planet will rape us all, and I mean ALL. Jupiter is HUGE, and will will destroy all the Terrestrial planets if possible.

LOL I never said bring it here...I meant go there...and make it habitable.

also putting Jupiter moon's on "our" orbit??? are you asking for a collision???

Sorry, must of read your post wrong.

But, yes it can cause a collisionary, but those are chances scientists (if with the right technology) can be willing to take. I would love to see 2-3 moons every night, it would look beautiful, and make us appreciate the Universe more. Of course, I can see many set backs, one of them being the ability to control the speed of orbit and revolutions around Earth, with leads to major collisons and huge rocks able to kill us. But I think maybe, just maybe the scientists can get Ganymede and try to make our and some other moons to take orbit of it. I'm just imagining things, but we could create another string orbits with the others moons about 2-3 times further than ours.

Damn that is a giant ass planet...lol and being bigger and closer to the star would probably mean that the planet's equator would be sooooo hot...and storms would be pretty bad i'd imagine.
