you need a laptop pc wth either 2 LAN connections or a LAN and wireless and a XOver patch lead

[PS3]---XOver Lead-----[LAN on laptop/pc]

and have laptop/pc connect to internet via other LAN port or wireless its really that simple
lol. you need your pc and ps3 running of the same outer ... the ps3 can be using wireless. and the pc can be wired.... it doesnt matter in my Tut in the sig..... As for the tournements . some one suggested this before when i wanted to make a tut and this is the reason why. glad some people are IN

realy ok so this is how i got my setup
i have my single port router/modem connected to a 10 way Ethernet splinter forgot wat they called, so my internet goes into the uplink port 1 then in port 2-3 i have my ps3 and pc connected so that gives them both internet at the same time can i have xlink without changing any of my cables and stuf if so i will join this ltournament and im from new Zealand.

You can also go pc (wired or wireless) to router/modem and then bridge the network adapter (wireless card, ethernet , etc) with the ethernet port the ps3 is connected to.

Router/Modem -> PC -> Bridged Connection To An Ethernet Adapter PS3 Is Connected To -> PS3

If wireless from router/modem, this will eliminate all wired connections other than the one required to go from pc to ps3.

Yes, this is fine because both devices (pc/ps3) are on the same local network.

Yes, XLink Kai needs to be running on the pc, and everything should be configured so you can see your ps3 on XLink when you power on your ps3. I'm sure @Sawatis 's guide will walk you through the configuration (haven't looked at it myself). If not, I'm sure someone can give you a hand with any issues you may run into.
