Petitboot problem - "create_hdd_region.sh"

I have been away from the ps3 scene for months. Today I decided to install linux (red ribbon) on Rebug 3.55.2 otheros++ CECHG FAT PS3

So I follow the isntructions but cannot get passed this part. I have tried running the script but it doesn't seem to do anything but suggest stuff to me. It's been a long time since I have done any ps3 related stuff, feel like such a noob xD

I am using a usb to store the file and when i run the script i get this -

you typed "./create_hdd_region.sh"... try "sh ./create_hdd_region.sh"

Edit: I'm not 100% if the 1st sh is actually needed.
I assume you are following these instructions: Install_OtherOS_on_HDD for all PS3 models? If so, did you perform step 2) When installation is finished, reboot in Recovery Mode (not the Backup/Restore in XMB) and choose "Restore PS3 System"? I ask because your script is running fine up until the point where it detects the number of free sectors as "-8", which means there is no free space for OtherOS.
This step is absolutely necessary in order to free up space on the internal HDD for OtherOS. Note that you will need to make a backup of all your data otherwise you will lose everything.

No I am using a newer hard drive so I would have assumed it was formatted correctly first time round. I will give that ago , cheers.

Edit:

That seems to have done it. The script did something this time and so I thought I would have a go at installing red ribbon and it seems to be working as it found the otheros++ partition! Thanks for your help and I will confirm if it all worked once it's finished.

Edit #2:

Just installed red ribbon booted up and it's asking for username and password.... in the installation i made the username ps3 but it didnt give me the option to make a password. Really mad atm!

Ouch! My internet is running at sub-56k speeds atm and I've never used Red Ribbon.
Assuming Red Ribbon has set a default password, it should be available on the internet or in the readme. I would try username/password combo's like root/root, ps3/root, root/ps3, and ps3/ps3.

I think I got it working now. Also I backed up the ps3 up on the xmb then restored via the recovery menu, will I be able to restore my profiles etc from the Back Up without it deleting the linux partition? Thanks for your help
