Showtime cause hdd corruption
After installing showtime
I played some movie, then after a while showtime froze the ps3 then when i restarted all my apps/games was gone only showed unknown in the game menu of ps3 xmb only way to fix was to fix filesystem This program sucks just a warning for people == as a result I lost all my saves.. === Edit: Just to clarify what happened I install the app -played a 1080p movie via usb hdd, was rewinding the movie etc and it froze the ps3... (also it said on screen cpu is too slow to play this movie etc) -had to power off of the ps3 -restarted it and all my apps/games was gone. -only way to fix was to do a format of the filesystem via recovery menu. -now all my saves is gone.. i did exactly as i said installed showtime start it then try to play some movie to see then i was rewinding it or something and it froze the ps3 when reboot all games/apps gone just showed "unknown" so my only choice was to fix File system wished i had a backup of all my saves.. just be careful with this app. just letting ppl know take it or leave it is your choice -- I got a ps3 fat 60gb |

Deank implemented showtime in multiman. I'm sure he wouldn't risk such factor unless it's friendly and safe.

I doubt anything in showtime's original coding was made to do anything that malicious... A emanate HDD failure sounds more reasonable.

this hdd only bought this year about 6 months old maybe not malicious but possible bug Anyway it's already fix cos i reformat the filesystem in the ps3. but all my saves are gone wish i had backup my saves... so lesson - backup the saves -- Anyway I am never touching showtime again..but if i do, I am backing up all my saves regularly... == I wanted to see if it could play 1080p, and it was very slow.. so pointless..since i already got a HTPC. but i just want to try it to see if it could.. It's a good app, but possible bug that cause the hdd corruption.. == Just giving a warning to people who are considering installing this app. ************* [ - Post Merged - ] *************
There's possible bugs that maybe cause the hdd corruption I am just letting ppl know my experience as warning.. I got nothing against showtime.. I think it is a good idea to have an movie player.. I hope xbmc gets ported, but until then this is the best/only movie player out there. but just a warning that this corruption of the FS can occur with this app.. Investigating this further
Does showtime write to the FS while playing the movies, ie using a cache? I was playing/testing out a 1080p the movie [via a usb hdd] when it froze... My theory the 1080p was too much for the cpu etc.. which cause the ps3 to freeze while the Showtime was writing to the filesystem.. which cause the hdd to become corrupt.. because I had to turn off the ps3 when it froze... |

I have watched 1080p movies from external fat32 as well
Bit. Laggy from external but internal all good but normally use ps3 media server Only problem you hace to stream of pc but runs perfect and as for showtime i use it for shoqtime tv On both ps3 running smooth since day one And you are right about the cpu part i some times get that watching youtube videos at 1080p Showtime tells me that when it happens to freeze up and then sometimes i even have to switxh ps3 OF from the power point and dont get me wrong until it happens to me or some one else cant really say it is the program itself could be anything you could be right dont get me wrong and as for the bluerays that i was watching from external they where compressed 2pass 1080p 4gig no problems just a bit of lag thats why i use ps3 original media player and if i cant watch them i use the ps3 media server from pc and just a thought wich showtime number where you using Last edited by stussy1; 12-08-2011 at 06:48 AM. |
