It will run, but you might have to back down to 720P to use "High Quality" settings.

I have to say from experience that the graphical difference between medium and high settings are practically negligible in this game, even on a 32+" screen. The only real difference being the line-of-sight range between the two. There are slightly more detailed textures, but not really enough to be worth mentioning.

That said, if you can afford it, then why not play on the highest settings possible I guess. Also, gfx cards from ATI specifically go by the 2nd digit in the 4 digit series to provide a rough appraisal of the card's capabilities, provided the cards are of the same type. Borrowing KillerBug's example, 6790 > 6670 > 5670 > 6570 > 5450, etc. In addition, check the power requirements prior to buying a new card, as well as the types of power inputs required, if any. It's easy to overlook such things in the haste to improve your system. =)

Well I have a pretty decently spec'd machine so I just right into high settings and what ever happens happens lol. Here are my specs:
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2097140
As you can see I only have a GTX 260 but that ran skyrim pretty well, and it only costs about ~$100, if you can find one lol.
The new radeons are pretty decent as well.

I'm looking at the nVidia GTX 460 right now...it is a bit higher than my budget, but I could crank every single setting to max on any game that currently exists, plus every game released for the next year at least. Plus it has CUDA, which I actually have a use for. I am just having trouble getting over the price...

You got your advice in the previous thread. The only way you'll get to play Skyrim on your current PC is if you buy a new graphics card and that's it, there's no other solution and there's no way around it. Your current graphics card is integrated and integrated cards are used just to display picture in Windows so only thing you can play with it are a few years old games and even those on really moderate settings. Ofcourse, you can easily run a bunch of 2D games like World of Goo, Braid, Limbo and such but Skyrim isn't one of those.

When you get to the point where you need to decide which laptop you'll get (I honestly hope you'll have a choice), make sure you get a recommendation from somebody who knows their way around computers so you don't get stuck with an integrated graphics card on your laptop. Laptop graphics can't be replaced like in desktops so if that happens there's no Skyrim for you!

Actually, when/if the time comes to choose a laptop, just post the models you're thinking about here and somebody will give you a proper advice.

hmm you have a integrated video card maybe you can look in your bios there must be a option to assign your video card RAM from your main memory - maybe its set to 256 or lower just take a look...

and the newest skyrim patch are optimized for dual core cpus...

Oh I know my computer can't run it, I was just looking for maybe a solution other than buying a new graphics card. But, I am still getting my laptop.

I will be choosing my laptop, so no need to worry about that. I am choosing next week and the maximum it can cost is around $650 from ONLY retail stores (Futureshop, Best Buy, etc.). I am choosing next week on Friday or Saturday, so I will probably post all the options.

If anyone has recommendations right now for laptops, please don't hesitate to post. Just remember, $650 or below, and from retail stores only. And don't post crappy laptops, I'm just looking for ones which will be able to run Skyrim and some of the other games (I don't really care about BF3).

You can always edit your InI file for custom low settings. As I do not have this game yet I cannot tell you exactly what to edit, but look for something like drawdistance, particle count, dynamic lighting, and anything shadow related. I did a quick Google searce and found some Ini tweek examples for this game http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...php?p=26388444

Alright guys, I have a few laptops picked out...

I know that the ones I have picked aren't that fancy, or even gaming computers, but these are my picks. I was going for more stores, but it seems these two are the closest. I have been reading on Intel HD 3000 graphics working with Skyrim, if that helps.

Of those, the HP G7-1270CA is by far the best gaming computer.

Let me ask...does it necessarily have to be a laptop? You can get a desktop that will blow that laptop out of the water for less money.
