Flashing xBox Slim 4GB lot 1139x
I've always been on PS3 and have bought an xBox slim a week ago. So, I'm a new user with no idea on how to mod xBox? So far, after reading a a lot of articles and forums I've gathered that a RGH is not possible on my console as it is manufactured after August 2011 (i might be wrong here). I have not opened my xBox yet so don't know if what model of DVD is in there. Not sure what board/DVD model it it? I would like know:
- if it is possible to flash firmware to play backups? - if not, is it possible to replace DVD drive with one that can be flashed? - how to identify the model of my DVD without taking it apart? i'd really appreciate any kind of help. |

it should be a liteon drive which can be flashed. and an easy way to tell if it can have the rgh done to it is to pop the top grate off and shine a flashlight in and see if you can see the hana chip and the nand if you can then you have a trinity mobo and it can have the rgh done to it. see the pic
![]() as to tell what drive there is no real way to tell on a slim without opening it you do not have to open the entire 360 to check for the chips just the top black grate pop it off take a flashlight shine it in and check also if you can see the 4gb chip it would be attached to the mobo looks like this

thanks pbanj. i was hoping you'd reply to my thread given your contribution to this forum. you are really helpful. i have a few question about firmware flashing: - can i do it on any console with any board (trinity/corona)? - would i need any other tools (like usb board) to flash the DVD? - is it possible to use power cable from my computer PSU and install the DVD locally in my PC to flash the firmware with JungleFlasher? - what DVD are supported? i hear the new liteon DVDs aren't supported but i'm not sure if this is true or just rumor. - if (in worse case scenario) my DVD is not supported can i swap it with the one that is supported? once again thanks for your help & support. |

You can't replace a DVD drive, the Drive has a special ID that is tagged to the motherboard, in order to swap the DVD drive you would need to download the ID Key to spoof another DVD drive. If you can download the Key you can pretty much flash it anyway as long as there is a CFW for that drive. I am not sure about the Slim but there are pictures floating around on Google of DVD drives that show specific marks and holes that can identify your Make and Model of DVD drive. As far as I know all DVD drives are supported for Firmware Flashing. You would need to buy a Connectivity Kit (3i is the latest I think?), a PCI Sata and a Probe (depending on your Drive) you can find these all on the www.ck3.co.uk site. In order to flash the drive you have to have the tools above, it won't work any other way. Check the Xecutor website for latest info on Drive specifics. If your drive isn't supported but you can download the Key then you can spoof your drive, this is basically getting one that is supported and flashing your Drives data on to it. I heard this is risky though, could be wrong. Pbanj is your man though for Xbox stuff. Good luck!

you dont need to buy a ck3 you can use your 360 to power the drive, you can make the probes but with the slim you may have to drill the chip(or melt with soldering iron) to unlock it. spoofing a drive is not really safe as it is easy for ms to detect. i have always used my motherboard to flash drives, the only time you need to buy any of that crap is to make it easier not that its hard, they just make them for people who want usb or not to make their own probes and other devices, they also make replacement pcbs for the drives for people who dont want to drill. you could also send it to someone to get it flashed. i almost forgot if it happens to have the mxic chipset you dont have to drill you can use the sputnik hack which all you do is cut some traces they sell a chip you can use to make it easier
how to tell ![]() some sites that are based in Australia OzModchips Hills District Console Mods Modchip Australia Mod Supplier Game Console Repairs these are worldwide shippers XCONSOLES Divineo ModTraders CK3 Games Mr Modchips Modchip Global Modchip Central FoundMy also in my other post i was talking about this

thanks konkor and pbanj. these are very helpful posts.
@pbanj - thanks for the picture. i took out the grill and tried flaslight and knew straight away that it doesn't have 'hana' chip on the board. so i went ahead and opened my xbox completely to get the DVD model number. i was surprised that there were no 4GB chips on board like shown in the picture posted in your earlier post. maybe it is a new board altogether. anyway, my drive info is below: drive manufacturer: liteon drive model: 1175 (DG-16D5S) i haven't opened the drive itself but looking at various forums it seems like that it would most like have the winbond chipset. i open the drive today to get soem more details. however, would you be able to tell based on the information above if my drive is flashable? |

said you dont need all that stuff to flash a 360 alot of computers have sata ports they just sell that stuff like x360 usb to make it easier on the end user plus you can use a hand drill for the winbond

http://c4evaspeaks.com/topic/lite-on-1175dg-16d5s/ does this means it is not hackable? do you know anyone who has flashed a liteon 1175 DG-16D5S successfully? please let me know or point me to a tutorial if it is possible. |
