I don't use AdBlock+ because I don't need it for any sites other than PS3Hax. I never visit any other sites that use full screen ads, with the exception of download sites. I've certainly never come across another site that displays ads in JavaScript alert boxes. Plugins, by nature, slow down the browsing process, so I like to keep my browser as vanilla as possible, with the exception of user scripts that I wrote myself and a user stylesheet.
Like I said, I'm completely pro ad, but ads on a news site that appear full screen are obtrusive. The javascript alert ads I saw yesterday were also very confusing, as they were clearly written in a browser that wasn't Chrome because the instructions to get rid of the ad weren't correct for that browser. Obstructive ads interrupt whilst reading a news post. Yes, I could go directly to the forums but I do prefer the news post layout. I do find it interesting that you qualify that these types of ad are required to pay server costs. In my experience, they frustrate and deter visitors from returning, so I do wonder if ad revenue would increase by not displaying them. I also wonder how many members would not have installed blockers if they weren't greeted by the full screen ad. |

LoL...it sounds like you have installed some scamware or something. Remove it completely, then go into the firefox add-ons and install it from there.

As stated many times in this thread adblock= is the way to go if the ads annoy you that bad. Trust me when I say that the ads here are not as bad as other console sites. You have a solution consider the thread closed unless Pirate has anything to say about removing them.
