Thats where im having the problem, no reason to be a dick im just trying to get this going. My system is 4.00 im trying (like it said in the tut) to downgrade to 3.55 by loading the update data on my flash then going to system recovery. When i do this though it says data corrupted.

facepalm again :/ you need a hardware flasher, go ask google what progskeet is or better yet search this site for a downgrade tut, don't try to use a tut for those that are already on 3.55. or better yet click on the what should be idiot proof banner at the top of the site. guess it's true, idiot proof something and a bigger idiot will come along

You really cant control it can you? Thanks for the help i suppose. I just started this today but again, i appreciate your helpful attitude. If it had said i needed a hardware flasher anywhere id have gone from there.

Hi all,

I have CECH2508A(I suppose) and it came with 3.50 FW.
I followed Part 1,2,3 and 4 perfectly. It worked.I skipped part 5 (openFTP stuff). I tried to install Spoof.pkg. It stuck. As you have written it will take a while to complete installation, I tried to wait for as long as I can...30 mins, 1 hr, 2 hrs...come on 2hr ?And all I got is a blackscreen. Now every time I press power button I get a blackscreen.
I tried to soft reset it. So my soft reset menu came up. Tried to restore ps3. Nothing worked.
All I get is blackscreen but the soft reset menu is accessible (though I donno if it works)
Please help. Is my PS3 bricked? I dont get any Red screen or Yellow power light or
I'm scared to death and It has only been 10 days since I bought (I saved for 4 months to buy this console)
I dont want to give up on this. Please help.
Since I can see the soft reset menu, the HDMI cable is fine.
And all had to happen on Christmas eve when every one is busy, laughing enjoying and I get to feel like the noob who bricked his ps3.

PS: I installed Multiman. It worked fine. I could also copy a game from my USB stick to PS3 Internal HDD. And after that I also played Metal Gear Solid 4(Blue ray) for quite some time and thought of installing the spoof so that I can play Dirt3 which needs 3.6 FW (Which I later learnt that its not possible to play game which requires 3.60 FW with 3.55Kmeaw FW though its spoofed to 4.0...Correct me if I'm wrong... Then what the f**k is this spoof is for anyway ? Only stops update to 4.0 OFW ? ... Multiman was working all fine..this stupid spoof pwned me)

Trying to figuring out what did I do wrong. Turns out that I downloaded 4.00_Version_Spoofer_2.1_341.pkg instead of 4.00_Version_Spoofer_2.1_355.pkg. And installed the former thinking I have the right file pkg in haste.

Considering my problem I decided to do a hard reset. I'm trying to format PS3 is this OK ? I dont care about game saves, I just wish I could see XMB.
I plan to leave my PS3 for tonight, that it gets formatted. Celebrate your Christmas and come back soon to help me !

no you can do a quick format and it will be fine. are you sure you installed the correct spoof ? there is a 3.41 version and a 3.55 version check the version that you have. it should take no longer than 3-4 min to install.

Yeah I figured that I have installed the 3.41 spoof, my bad. I dint check while downloading the file. Any-ways what's done is done. How to perform a quick format ? (I dont want to take the HD out and format it on a PC). How does it look while I format ? Right now all I can see a blackscreen.

Solved. Did a fresh installation of 3.55 OFW in recovery mode. Will go for 3.55 CFW now.
