Well, you could jailbreak it yourself if you wanted to subject yourself to hours and hours of research each day for about 24 consecutive months. Probably more. (Maybe less, it all depends on how fast you're able to grasp things)
After about two years of research in the C++ language (among others), you will have a somewhat respectable span of knowledge. You could use this knowledge to possibly - I am not making any guarantees - fulfill your longings for a 4.0 jailbreak - which by this time, should already be jailbroken by another. Or you could just wait for KaKaRoTo's jailbreak to be released. It's up to you. |

And bringing Anne Frank into this, wow. Is she the only thing you could have used in your "analogy" or are you just trying to offend me? |

yes he could downgrade as long as its not a brand new unshakable console though he never asked that, he asked is there a jailbreak for 4.00 and if not will there ever be one (making it seem he doesn't want to downgrade his ps3)

I've only just started reading about all this so if you could stick with me I have a couple of questions
1 from what I understand you must downgrade fw to 3.55 to be able to run your games from hdd etc 2 what's the difference in downgrading or flashing custom fw and jailbreaking ? I appreciate any advice and have read a few tutorials but would just like some clarification Thanks Jim |

Well downgrading is the process in which you use a piece of hardware usually refered to as a flasher to force a downgrade of a console to a hackable state in PS3's case 3.55 (firmware).
The word flashing just means upgrading/downgrading the firmware, usually found in rom, but usually used in conjunction with a flasher when talking about PS3 downgrading.
