Cloneing HDD to new bigger HDD?

I was wondering if it's possible to Clone a Hard Drive i was thinking bout connecting the 2 SATA Hard Drives taking off the connections from my CD/DVD Drive and connecting it that extra drive and use a program call Acronis True Image BOOT to clone the first drive and than copy it over to the second Hard DRive would this be possible?

I think the encryption resides on the filesystem level and not hardware level. I maybe wrong.
I do no think that will work...
Again I maybe wrong.
In either case though filesystem or hardware it still wouldn't work I think.

a third option is to access everything from PS3 HDD to an external.
Swap the PS3 HDD with the bigger one you want to use (not the external). Format the new HDD and then restore.
Some things you may have to copy using a file manager because the backup feature might not backup everything you want.
Might not be the best way but just though of it now.

The ps3 uses a weird Sony only format. Trueimage maybe able to clone it, but the end result would be the same size HD and the free space wasted.

Best just to jailbreak it, install a FTP program and copy to PC. Install new hdd, format and FTP back.

I was going to say that, but the others seemed to think you meant PS3 so I thought it must be me who had lost the plot lol

I have done it a few times. I always make regular drive images of my PC boot drive and have just burnt the image to a new clean HDD if/when needed

EDIT I have a cheap SATA to USB dock so I use that

OH my bad lol, need to read the topic more often.
Yes you can image a hard drive and re-image it over to another drive. True Image is a great tool that I use myself. It will work just fine . Sorry for the mix up.
To clone the C Drive you will need the boot-able version of true image I believe as it cannot make an image of a drive that is currently active.
You can in your words "burn" the contents directly from drive to drive....but why are you imaging??? why not just copy/paste???

Should be no problem at all. I have not used the app you mentioned, but with the ones I have used the best way to do it all is create a boot disc with the app, reboot your PC and make sure it boots from disc, make a Full backup (image), then you can do what you want with that image by using the boot disc again.

It does not matter whether it is a different HDD or not that you are putting image data back onto.
