I would recommend rebug, as you can block online updates by enabling debug updates on it.

I was on wanin v2 firmware cause I didn't like the way kmeaw operates. anyways I was at a party my ps3 got updated and now have ordered around $100 in parts to fix it.

I would definitely recommend rebug and also look into using mfw builder with a script to spoof the firmware version to 9.90 I don't know how to do this yet theres supposed to be a script on it, I'm sure the guys on irc from ps3devwiki would be more than glad to help.

If you can't run it through mfw builder then put a disc in the drive disable internet and throw paper infront of it tape her down.....

Also when your done you could go one step further and backup your nand using a pkg file from ps3devwiki. its pretty simple just run the package.

No Linux isnt pointless you can run emulators through it, you can use the ps3 as a regular pc onces rsx driver support is fully in it you'll be able to run media centers. Also I believe linux runs faster with the 8th spe unlocked I haven't looked into it yet but yeah....

If someone bought a playstation for get a cheaper pc, is just a rare case.

In this case i dont think topic author bought a ps3 for play snes game, i guess he higly prefer God of War 3 and Devil May cry 4 dont u think so?

P.S: If last spu is dactivate by default there is a motivation, on 75% of case he's defective, is like activate locked cpu on 3xphenom...
Also you suggesting to a newbie to use mfw builder ecc?lol he just asked how to jailbreak console and use game, your suggestion arent exactly for a newbie

Yes, plug on windows an external hdd on fat 32, then create a folder named PS3, and inside the ps3 folder another folder called GAMES.
Inside the "GAMES" or "GAMEZ" folder copy the game folder ( he must be named BLESxxxx or BLUSxxxxx).
In this way multiman will read the game inside folder as genuine backup.
Also you can decide to copy those game on internall hdd or decide to copy a game from BD to the HDD u choose.
